'And Just Like That': All characters making debut in 'Sex and the City' universe

Apart from having original characters, 'And Just Like That' also features new and intriguing characters

‘Sex and the City’ is considered to be one of the most iconic shows in the history of television. The HBO series, which originally aired in 1998, was acclaimed for many themes such as feminism and relationship struggles, making it one of the most-watched shows in the network’s history. Apart from having a unique story, it was the characters that made the show monumental.

Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) became household names and a part of people’s lives. Now, after a long gap of 17 years, the gang is returning for a reboot to the original series which will be premiering exclusively on HBO Max. Parker, Davis, and Nixon will be reprising their respective roles in the reboot and will also see Chris Noth (Mr. Big), David Eigenberg (Steve Brady), and Willie Garson (Stanford Blatch) will also be a part of the show.

Apart from the aforementioned original characters, the reboot will also introduce fans to some intriguing new characters as well. So, let’s take a look at all the new characters that will be making an appearance on the show.

Lisa Todd Wexley (played by Nicole Ari Parker)

The actress will be joining the reboot as a new character on the show and will portray the role of Lisa Todd Wexley. The character is a documentarian and a mother of three children. As far as Parker’s career is concerned, the actress is known for her roles in ‘The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love’ and ‘Boogie Nights’. She also plays the role of Deputy Superintendent Samantha Miller on ‘Chicago PD’.



 

Seema Patel (played by Sarita Choudhury)

Another new character on the show and it is being portrayed by the supremely talented Sarita Choudhury. According to the makers, Seema is a wealthy and single self-made Manhattan high-end real estate agent trying to fit in with the rich and extraordinary lives of the original gang.

Sarita made her acting debut in 1991 with the movie ‘Mississippi Masala’ opposite Denzel Washington. She also had a supporting role in the 1998 film ‘A Perfect Murder’ which also starred Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Viggo Mortensen. The actress was recently seen in the movie ‘The Green Knight’ alongside Dev Patel.

Dr. Nya Wallace (played by Karen Pittman)

Nya Wallace is one of the new acquaintances in Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte’s lives and will be sharing a strong bond with Miranda. Wallace is a highly intelligent professor at Columbia University and is closest to Miranda because of their profession.

Pittman has been a part of the industry since 2009 and has worked on several projects over the years. She is known for her roles in ‘Begin Again’, ‘Law & Order’, ‘House of Cards’, ‘Detroit’, and ‘The Morning Show’.



 

Che Diaz (played by Sara Ramirez)

The reboot will be making history by introducing the first-ever non-binary character on the show. Sara Ramirez will be playing the role of Che Diaz, who is a popular queer, non-binary podcaster and stand-up comedian. Che has a very big heart and always tries to uplift people. She is a very good friend of Carrie, who will be making frequent appearances on Che’s podcast.

Sara is one of the most talented artists working in the industry right now and has given many stellar performances over the years. She won the Tony Award in the Best Actress category for ‘Monty Python’s Spamalot’.



 

George (played by Isaac Cole Powell)

Powell will be portraying the character of George, who is a calm and confident young student at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He doesn’t care about gender norms and lives the way he wants to. This is one of the biggest roles for Powell, who is known for his roles in projects such as ‘American Horror Story: Death Valley’ and ‘Dear Evan Hanson’.

Rose Goldenblatt (played by Alexa Swinton)

The reboot will introduce us as well to Charlotte and Harry Goldenblatt’s children. Alexa Swinton will be portraying the role of their younger daughter, Rose Goldenblatt. Swinton is known for her roles in Piper in ‘Emergence’ and Eva Rhoades in ‘Billions’. 



 

Lily Goldenblatt (played by Cathy Ang)

Lily is the older daughter of Charlotte and Harry and is originally adopted from China. Cathy is a talented pianist who’s trying to navigate life through her teenage years. The young actress has previously made appearances in ventures like ‘Ramy’, ‘Over The Moon’ and ‘The Blessing’.



 

Gloria Marquette (played by Brenda Vaccaro)

Vaccaro plays Gloria in the reboot series. Gloria is the long-employed and loyal secretary who always stands beside Mr. Big. The Academy Award and Emmy-nominated actress has starred in ‘Midnight Cowboy’, ‘Capricorn One’, ‘Johnny Bravo’, and ‘You Don’t Know Jack’.

Herbert Wexley (played by Christopher Jackson)

Herbert is a successful banker and is the husband of Lisa. He shares three children with Lisa and leads a happy life with her family. The actor is known for his roles in ‘In the Heights’, ‘Moana’, ‘Hamilton’, ‘Tick, Tick… Boom’, and ‘Person of Interest’. 

'And Just Like That' will be premiering exclusively on HBO on December 9.
