'Example of love': Internet praises Amy Grant after she announces hosting niece's same-sex wedding
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Amy Grant has been receiving a lot of support online after she said that she will be hosting her niece’s same-sex wedding. In a recent interview, the singer-songwriter revealed her plans and said that for her family, it is the “first bride and bride” function.
Grant said to the Washington Post, “What a gift to our whole family to just widen the experience of our whole family. Honestly, from a faith perspective, I do always say, ‘Jesus, you just narrowed it down to two things: love God and love each other.' I mean, hey — that’s pretty simple.”

The third one wrote, “Thanks, @amygrant , for setting an example of love, dignity, and good-heartedness.”

However, evangelist and missionary William Franklin Graham III did not seem to agree with the Christian music legend as he claimed “that homosexuality is sin.” Taking to Facebook, son of the late Billy Graham wrote, “Amy Grant announced to the Washington Post that she and her husband Vince Gill are going to host a same-sex wedding on their farm for her niece. Amy is quoted as saying, ‘Jesus you just narrowed it down to two things: love God and love each other.’”
“Yes, we are to love God and love each other. But if we love God, we will seek to obey His Word. Jesus told us, ‘If you love Me, keep My commandments’ (John 14:15). God defines what is sin, not us; and His Word is clear that homosexuality is sin. We have all sinned, and in order to have a relationship with God and spend eternity with Him in Heaven, we must turn from our sin and put our faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, who came to earth to die for our sins,” the post added.
The 70-year-old also added, “The Bible says, ‘Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out,’ (Acts 3:19). For me, loving others also means caring about their souls and where they will spend eternity. It means loving people enough to tell them the truth from the Word of God. The authority of God’s Word is something we can never compromise on.”
But Graham’s attack on Grant did not go down well with several people as writer Paul Rudnick said on Twitter, “Franklin Graham said singer and devout Christian Amy Grant is going to Hell for hosting a same-sex wedding for her niece. When Jesus heard about this he said, ‘Amy's headed for heaven, where she'll never have to run into Franklin Graham.’”
A person tweeted, “Fascinating to see Evangelicals having a melt down over Amy Grant, yet still somehow befuddled by decreased church attendance. Look in the mirror. We don't want to spend ‘eternity’ with you because you put us through hell here on earth. You are the problem.”

Look in the mirror. We don't want to spend "eternity" with you because you put us through hell here on earth. You are the problem.
In addition, a whole lot of people also slammed Graham below his Facebook post with one saying, “She’s a better Christian than you’ll ever be.” Another one supporting Grant commented, “Good for her. She's what we should strive to be as Christians, not an old grumpy man like you Franklin.”
The third one added, “I worship God and live by what Jesus taught. I am in a same sex marriage. And believe we are all Gods children. You can cherry pick versus right and left. You can believe in a talking snake that tempted Eve. I was raised Southern Baptist but have enlarged my spiritual beliefs. Jesus never spoke on homosexuality. Not one word. I am holy and redeemed because I have faith. My faith goes beyond what naysayers may spout. We are here to love one another and to be of service to one another. Keep your foul judgments to yourself. I support Amy.”
