LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA:  James Cameron helmed 'Avatar: The Way of Water', which continues to woo everyone around the world with its mind-boggling cinematography and special effects. Nevertheless, the sequel, 'Avatar: The Way of Water' was released almost after 13 years as the film required to develop of new technology in order to film performance capture scenes underwater, a feat never accomplished before, which led to significant delays to allow the crew more time to work on the writing, preproduction, and visual effects.

As everyone knows, Cameron stated in 2006 that he would like to make sequels to 'Avatar' if it was successful, and announced the first two sequels in 2010, following the widespread success of the first film, with the first sequel aiming for a 2014 release. However, that did not happen although the addition of two more sequels did,  and now the franchise will be having a total of five 'Avatar' films. Furthermore, 'Titanic' director, Cameron stated that he’s shot scenes from a proposed 'Avatar 3' and 'Avatar 4' concurrently with the recently released sequel.

Recently, writer-director Cameron has told Entertainment Weekly that he’s shot scenes from a proposed 'Avatar 3' and 'Avatar 4' concurrently with the recently released sequel. He did so to avoid having the younger cast members age out, bringing up Netflix’s 'Stranger Things' as an example of the problem of time marching on.

The Way of Water introduces Tuk (Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, who was 7 years old when cast and is now 13) and Spider (Jack Champion, who was 12 when cast, but is now 18). As Champion was “growing like a weed,” the second, third, and first act of the fourth movie had to be done in one production, Cameron said.

“Otherwise, you get–and I love 'Stranger Things' but you get the Stranger Things effect, where they’re supposed to still be in high school [but] they look like they’re 27,” Cameron said. “You know, I love the show. It’s okay, we’ll suspend disbelief. We like the characters. But, you know.”

Regardless, the sequel film has grossed 555.9 million dollars worldwide, becoming the ninth highest-grossing film of 2022, and received generally positive reviews from critics, who lauded its visual effects and technical achievements.
