LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Daniel Craig's 'James Bond' reign began in 2006 with the blockbuster movie 'Casino Royale', and fans started feeling that he'll be playing the iconic character for a very long time. The actor went on to play the legendary MI6 agent in five movies and decided to leave the film series with 'No Time To Die'. However, fans have been requesting the superstar to play the character one more time, but it seems Craig has made up his mind to not be a part of the film series again.

The 'Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery' star ended his five-film run as the iconic detective in last year's 'No Time To Die' where we see James Bond sacrificing himself. The idea of killing Bond was not spontaneous and had been discussed for a long time. The ending of 'No Time To Die' seemed a perfect way to say goodbye to Craig's Bond as he underwent a lot of surgeries and broke many bones while filming these movies and the time had come to pass the baton. As of now, no actor has been chosen to play the character, but Craig has already made it clear that he is not returning.

While speaking in an interview with Sunday Times, the actor noted that the premiere of 'Casino Royale' in Berlin made him realize how big the film series actually was and thought 'Casino Royale' would be the only Bond film that he'll ever act in. Well, he was wrong and came back to reprise the role in four more movies. However, when he started shooting 'No Time To Die', he knew that the time had come to leave the series and someone else to take charge.

"This is it. I don’t want to do any more," Craig said.

After the first movie, Craig asked Barbara Brocolli, the producer of 'James Bond' films, about the number of movies they want him to do as Bond and told her that he knows how he wants to end his run.

He added, "I said to Barbara, ‘How many more? Three? Four?’ She said, ‘Four!’ I said, ‘OK. Then can I kill him off?’ She said, ‘Yes.'"

'No Time To Die' saw Craig's character fighting Lyutsifer Safin (Rami Malek) and protecting his family from all the dangers. However, in the end, he believes that sacrificing himself is the only way he can save his family. After a ferocious battle with Safin, Bond eventually takes the decision to stay on the island which is about to be bombarded with missiles. The missiles strike the island and destroy the facility, killing Bond.

The movie turned out to be a huge hit and earned more than $775 million at the box office.

The movie also stars Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr, Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline with Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista in pivotal roles.

‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ will be streaming exclusively on Netflix on December 23.
