INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA: 19-year-old Meggie Iyer is a contestant in 'American Idol' Season 22. Hailing from Indianapolis, Indiana, she made it to the audition round on her third attempt.
Her performance in 'American Idol' Season 22 will air on Sunday, February 18 at 8 pm ET on ABC.
Born in 2005, Meggie has harbored dreams of being on stage since childhood. Even though she has kept her family life private, she is often seen hanging out with her friends.
She has a supportive family who has helped her pursue her passion. Meggie has a lot of determination and perseverance as this was her third attempt auditioning for the ABC show.
She excels both in music and academics. Her bubbly personality was soon witnessed by judge Lionel Richie, who called her a 'ray of sunshine'.

Speaking to WRTV Indianapolis, Meggie shared her feelings when she auditioned for 'American Idol'.
She stated, "It is like an "out of body" experience. Standing in front of Lionel Richie, a legend that my mother talks about, and Luke Bryan, a performer that my friends have seen live."
Iyer remarked, "I hope I made little me very proud being able to sing in front of Katy Perry because I grew up listening to her."
She thoroughly enjoyed a lot and learnt from the surreal experience that only a select few get to experience.
