'American Idol' Season 22 judge Katy Perry receives internet wrath as she gives 'no' to Laela Dasher

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 22 contestant Laela Dasher delivered a stellar performance and managed to impress the viewers. Sadly, she failed to make an impact on Katy Perry but fans made it clear that it was the ABC judge's loss.

During the third week of auditions, Max Dasher had just wrapped up his performance and bagged the Golden Ticket, his sister Laela took centre stage in the ABC show and performed the song 'Angel From Montgomery' by John Prine.

Katy sparked sibling rivalry as she was wowed by Max but Laela's performance was not up to the mark. She said, "Max has a little lever, a little range on you." Katy also noted, "As far as volume goes, I was looking for a little bit more and I'm just torn." She announced, "So I'm just gonna go with my gut and say no."

However, the ABC show viewers took to Twitter and slammed Katy. A social media user said, "Wtf Katy u have put people thru that weren’t as strong as her! She’s REALLY good." Another person added, "NOO??? WTFFFF she was good."

Another internet user tweeted, "I’m convinced that @katyperry either has a serious hearing issue or feels highly intimidated by certain females. Constantly telling females with amazing voices no or picking them apart. However she‘ll say yes to every average Tom, Dick & Harry! MAKE IT MAKE SENSE."

Another critic shared, "I don’t get why the judges - particularly Katy - insist on every contestant having a big, booming voice. Sometimes a softer, intricate singing voice does wonders too." Another viewer suggested, "She's annoying."

Did Laela Dasher get the Golden Ticket?

Despite Katy Perry giving a 'no' to Laela Dasher, the 'American Idol' Season 22 contestant received the Golden Ticket. Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie were left with Laela's performance and gave her 'yesses' advancing her to Hollywood Week.

Lionel complimented Laela, "I don't know what you all are gonna do next but I know I'm gonna like it when you give it to me. Well, they did got on their own." He added, "It's just magical separate and together. I wouldn't change a thing. Just put you out there. It's a yes." Meanwhile, Luke noted, "I think you have a really really nice voice. It's not a crazy big voice. I'm not busting y'all up. I'm giving you a yes."

Laela Dasher sparks rivalry with her brother Max Dasher

'American Idol' Season 22 Week 3 welcomed sibling duo Laela Dasher and Max Dasher. Notably both sister and brother duo received the golden ticket and advanced to the next round of the ABC show.

The duo also collaborated for a duet on 'Rivers and Roads' after their solo auditions. The duet impressed all three judges and they hoped more amazing performances in future. However, Laela and Max admitted to spark rivalry after getting the Golden Ticket.

Max noted to the cameras, "We're gonna be competitive" with Laela adding, "There's gonna be some...." Max noted, "The competition is on. There's gonna be some tension you're probably gonna see."
