‘American Idol 20’: Who is Jay Copeland? Singer, 23, all set to bag platinum ticket
The fourth episode ended on a high note with a singer named Douglas Mills Jr., getting all the judges emotional with his soulful performance. The fifth episode that will air on Monday, March 21, will see a new set of contestants trying to win the golden ticket to Hollywood. It is also rumored that the singer named Jay Copeland will reportedly bag the platinum ticket after getting dubbed as “superstar” by Katy Perry- as shown in the promo.
Jay Copeland will perform his rendition of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Sign, Sealed, Delivered’ that will reportedly earn him a platinum ticket, as reported by the website Idol Chatter Apart from Jay, singers namely Morgan Gruber, Saylor, Tobias, and others will also be seen auditioning in front of the judges namely Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie. Haley Slaton, Sam Moss, and Thomas Patrick Moran were some of the fan favorites from the fourth episode.

Who is Jay Copeland?
Jay Copeland’s first name is Jeremiah and is a 23-year-old singer who hails from Salisbury, Maryland. The versatile singer majors in music and theatre after graduating from Salisbury University in May 2020. He has reportedly performed in more than 200 shows during his time at the college which also included university theater productions of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and ‘Hairspray.’
Speaking in an interview with his university publication, he said, “I am blessed to grow up as a member of the Salisbury community and the Eastern Shore. I feel honored to have the support of my community, and I hope to make everyone proud. Every time I perform, I represent not only myself and my family; I represent my Salisbury community.” On Instagram, Jay Copeland enjoys more than 5K followers. He regularly shares singing videos to keep his fans and followers entertained.
Speaking about his musical journey, Copeland asserted, “I grew up in a musical family. Music was a big part of our Sunday services, so it helped develop my ear for music at a young age. Once I reached middle school, I began singing in the school choir, where my middle school teacher at Salisbury Middle School, Mrs. Daniel, gave me my first solo, ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.’ That's when I discovered my passion for performing.” Copeland earlier won the Upper College Men’s Musical Theater category of a national singing competition held by the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
