'American Idol' viewers were left shocked after the Top 9 results were announced on Sunday night's episode. The exceptionally talented 15-year-old Ava August was eliminated from the show after receiving high praise for every single performance this season. Also going home was Beane, who Katy Perry might soon work on a musical project with. Madison Watkins was also eliminated. Her rendition of 'Hot Line Bling' last week was something never heard before and it made her the first contestant to be saved by the judges.

The results were decided by the American audiences and fans of the show who tune in week after week to watch their favorite contestants perform. Ava and Beane had quite a fan following on Twitter and their elimination came as a huge shock.
