Trust Ryan Murphy to tease us with the most obscure teasers ahead of every season of his and Brad Falchuks FX anthology brainchild 'American Horror Story'.

Murphy took to Instagram to reveal a teeny tiny bit of a teaser for the upcoming season, with a beach and ocean waves crashing in the background as the ever so ominous tune of Orville Peck’s 'Dead of Night' plays in the background.

But don't let the barely-there length of the video deceive you as Murphy decided to drop the most massive information related to the upcoming season: all the big and fan-favorite cast members returning! That's right fandom, you guys finally did it.

This comes after a year's worth of slamming the latest and ninth season, titled '1984' purely because OG cat members like Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters were significantly missing from the show.

The fandom will be pleased to know that everybody's beloved sociopath and the phenomenal damsel in distress in each season are very much returning.

Not much is known about the upcoming season otherwise, except that it's most likely arriving later this year, but at least we know Paulson and Peters are returning, along with Kathy Bates, and franchise newbie — Macaulay Culkin. Here's all you need to know about the upcoming Season 10:

Release date

Since Murphy isn't one to give out all the major details way ahead of the season premiere anyway, so far all we know about the arrival of Season 10 is an expected mid-September release.

That was the case with the preceding Seasons 6 to 9, all of which premiered mid-September. The five seasons before that all premiered mid-October, so we have to wait till the latter half of the year anyway to treat ourselves to Season 10.

Plot

We all know the anthology horror takes up a new plot every season, pegged on almost anything that a horror story can spin out of. After elaborate cult murders, asylum creeps, freak shows, folklores, slashers and the supposed apocalypse, Season 10 might focus on either urban legends or alien conspiracies.

The speculation about aliens comes from the show's signature pattern to hint the potential theme for an upcoming season during the airing of the ongoing season.

So when Season 9: '1984' introduced us to this crazed reporter gushing about aliens and conspiracy theories in one of the episodes of the season, fans speculated that was it.

Additionally, Murphy had also shared with Deadline how "Every season by Halloween, I come up with what the winner is and I already came up with an idea for Season 10. There’s always the runner-ups, and I'm like 'Hmm could this be something?'"

"We flirted with aliens, we flirted with space, we flirted with some things that were more interesting than others," he added.

The speculation on aliens also comes from what the reporter Stacey had mentioned in her rant about the 70s. "Back in the '70s, all anyone cared about was Bigfoot and aliens, the Loch Ness Monster," the character had said, alluding to the probability of a season focusing on those topics this year.

But speaking to Entertainment Tonight at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, Murphy had also said that “the witches (from seasons 3 and 8) will be back" so that's something to look forward to as well.

'American Horror Story' is co-created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. Murphy and Falchuk are both screenwriters, directors and producers, best known for co-creating iconic shows like 'Glee', 'American Horror Story', 'Scream Queens', 'Pose', and '9-1-1'.

Murphy also directed the 2010 film adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's best-selling memoir 'Eat, Pray, Love' and the 2014 HBO film adaptation of Larry Kramer's 'The Normal Heart', the latter earning him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie.

Cast

Murphy finally seems to have caved into major fan pleas throughout the fandom as he announced both Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will be returning to resume their work on the show, along with series veteran Kathy Bates.

All three of them were last seen in Season 8: 'Apocalypse' for the last time after having been series regulars since the beginning.

Joining the cast this year will be everybody's favorite 'Home Alone' star Macaulay Culkin, alongside other series regulars like Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, Finn Wittrock, Adina Porter and Angelica Ross.

Trailer

It's a bit too early for a full-length trailer for Season 10, but since Murphy adores his fans, he announced the Season 10 cast with a teaser video on his Instagram that is ominous, to say the least.

A black and white video of eerily calm ocean waves crashing at the shore is accompanied by Oliver Peck's voice, alarming us of the 'Dead of Night'. An abandoned seashore could be a site of alien landings or folklore villains abducting people at random, so naturally, our intrigue is piqued!
