'American Horror Story's Angela Bassett on Marie Laveau's absence, "I'm even a little bit in my feelings"

Most of the witches are back now on 'American Horror Story: Apocalypse' but there's one face that we still wish to see. Marie Laveau, the fearless and insanely feisty voodoo empress has not shown up this season so far, while all the 'Coven' graduates - Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, Lily Rabe, Tessa Farmiga, Gabourey Sidibe, and even Frances Conroy have made their appearances. So is she set to appear? Since 'American Horror Story' has had a history of surprises and no one is ever really dead, will the scarf-clad, bronze-skinned and always calm Laveau come back? Apparently not. Angela Bassett, the actor who plays Laveau and confesses she's just as sad as the rest of us.

"I have [season eight] on my DVR, but I haven’t seen any of it just yet," Bassett told The Hollywood Reporter at Hollywood Confidential's "An Evening With Angela Bassett" on Monday. "But I mean, come on. Where’s Marie Laveau? I’m even a little bit in my feelings that Marie didn’t come back." This season of 'American Horror Story' has seen the resurrection of quite a few characters that have previously been pretty dead in the past few seasons. Fans of Laveau are many and they would have surely loved to see her back and kicking ass.

From the 'Apocalypse' point of view, her powers would have also been a huge bonus to the current crisis in the story. Just imagine Cordelia Goode and the gang back by Marie's voodoo skills - Michael Langdon wouldn't stand a chance.

Her schedule has been pretty full with '9-1-1' which is another one of Ryan Murphy's shows like 'AHS.' Bassett stars in the show as Athena Grant, LAPD patrol sergeant, a character that is the polar opposite of Laveau. On the show, Grant finds out that her husband is gay and hopes that she can somehow keep the family together in spite of the revelation. Her husband Michael doesn't agree, and the marriage falls apart, leaving Athena to pick up the pieces for herself and her children. If it were her character on 'AHS' she would have probably made a doll and burnt his house down while watching his limbs break, just saying.

Comebacks seem to be a thing with Ryan Murphy because Bassett reveals that Connie Britton could also make a comeback soon on '9-1-1'. "It is absolutely possible. We love Connie — Connie is family. She’s a phenomenal actress and a delightful person, and if she has a free Tuesday, come on over and give it to us! Anytime she wants to — anytime we need her — she’s there." Connie Britton was a character portrayed by Abigail "Abby" Clark who was a 911 operator on the show.
