Hashtag ‘#amberturd’ secured one of the top spots on the trending list on Thursday, May 19, after a social media expert during the trial revealed that several such hashtags were used between April 2020 and January 2021. Ron Schnell, who currently serves as the director of the Berkeley Research Group, took the stand after the lunch and weighed in on the negative hashtags being used on social media.

The social media expert testified in the court that there were over a million negative tweets about Amber Heard. Hashtags like #justiceforjohnnydepp, #amberheardisanabuser, #wejustdontlikeyouamber and #amberturd were amongst the most used against the 36-year-old actress. Johnny Depp fans used this opportunity to drag the ‘Aquaman’ star on Twitter as they again trolled the actress brutally.

Speaking in the court, Ron Schnell stated, “Some of these hashtags are pretty rude,” when asked how he knew the tweets were negative. When asked if hashtags like ‘Amber Heard is an Abuser” and “Amber Turd” started trending around 2016, Ron confessed that he could not recall. However, he noted that #JusticeForJohnnyDepp had been trending as far back as 2013.

Ron Schnell also testified that there was a big jump in hashtags like ‘#Johnnydeppisawifebeater’ between October and November 2020 which coincided with Depp’s trial in the UK which he ended up losing. According to Ron’s analysis, there were 2.3m negative tweets about Heard between January 2018 and January 2021.

‘She can’t blame anyone else but herself’

Johnny Depp’s fans quickly flocked to Twitter with an intention to drag Amber Heard as one of the users stated, “Heard's Expert told the jury that #AmberTurd is a thing, #JusticeForJohnnyDepp is an overwhelmingly trending hashtag, and now the jury is well aware of the public sentiment connecting Heard, Hoax, Fake, & Fraud. Public Opinion has entered the chat... Will this help Heard?” Another shared, “How is the court not howling at the #amberturd hashtag.” One tweeted, “Can we make the hashtag #AmberTurd trend again? I somehow missed it before. Lol.”

The next one posted, “LMFAOOOOO they did not just bring up the hashtag #AmberTurd in ACTUAL court.” One user said, “They brought up the amberturd hashtag in court today and I cant be happier lmao.”  Another individual asserted, “I tweet the hashtag  #AmberTurd because the woman is a liar and we all know it. Im not a bot, Im not paid by Depps team. Im just an intelligent woman, survivor of DV, who can recognise an abuser when I see one. The evidence has been brought to court. I vote Amber Turd GUILTY!” as one concluded, “#amberturd is a hashtag and she can’t blame anyone else but herself. And f*8k her for blaming the dog.”
