When the world’s biggest pop culture artists and their larger than life performances drop, it surely makes our day! American Music Awards 2020 arrived to honor idols, newcomers and record-breakers at the gala night with actress Taraji P. Henson as the host on November 22.

The fan-voted awards which honor talents in genres like Pop-Rock, Alternative, Country, Hip-Hop, Rap and others had singer Blake Shelton winning the award for Favorite Album in Country Music. Shelton released his winning album ‘Fully Loaded: God's Country’ which was preceded by the single ‘God's Country’, that clinched at number one on Hot Country Songs in mid-2019.

The nominees for Favorite Album in Country category had Luke Combs’ ‘What You See Is What You Get’ and Morgan Wallen’s ‘If I Know Me’. The AMA for Country Music has been given since 1974. It had singer Carrie Underwood being the all-time winner in this category (6 wins) and Garth Brooks being the most nominated artist (10 nominations).

American Music Awards are based on fan interactions that include streaming, album and digital song sales, radio airplay, social activity, and touring by the artists in various categories. Produced by dick Clark productions the AMA’s are seen in over 200 countries and territories around the world making it one of the most anticipated shows.

Now as Shelton’s album won the favorite album in Country music category, fans were elated and took to Twitter to praise the artist. A fan wrote on Blake’s win, “God’s country is one of my favorite songs.” Another concurred, “Well deserved! Sad it takes the AMA’s and People’s Choice Awards to recognize our favorite country artist and the #CMA’s only recognized the bottom of the whiskey barrel this year.” A user wrote about Shelton’s album, “Well deserved! God’s Country and Nobody but You are two of your best songs.” However, some users felt Combs was more deserving. “Luke had raw emotion and his music-making it true to its roots! ‘God's Country’ is sh** compared to ‘What You See Is What You Get.” Another wrote, "Luke Combs’s album was way better but okay."
