The 48th American Music Awards had nominated three ever-talented singers under the category of Favorite Female Artists Country awards. 'The Bones' singer Maren Morris competed with The 'American Idol' alumna Gabby Barrett and country singer Miranda Lambert for the title. While fans eagerly waited to see which one of their favorite musicians won it this year, following the award ceremony, it was revealed that Marren Morris had won the title, becoming the first female artist to receive the award besides Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood since 2006, following Faith Hill's victory.

Fans rushed to social media to congratulate Morris on her first-ever American Country Music award and breaking the record. Meanwhile, the star-studded event is currently taking place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles in the presence of fewer than 100 live viewers. Even though several celebrities have arrived at the location to collect the award and deliver performances, they are reportedly adhering to the Covid-19 protocol, which requires them to wear protective equipment when not on the stage. The dancers will be seen with facial masks throughout their performances, said reports.

One of the much-anticipated award events of the year is being hosted by the 'Empire' star Taraji P Henson and also presented by a few other known faces of the industry including Cara Delevigne, Derek Hough, and the 'Bachelor Nation' star Tayshia Adams.

The Weeknd and Roddy Rich led the award ceremony with eight nominations each, while Megan Thee Stallion received five herself.
