AMAs 2020: Lauren Daigle wins Contemporary Inspirational Award, joyous fans say 'blessed to find your music'

Two-time Grammy winner Lauren Daigle, who topped the the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart with her debut album 'How Can It Be' in 2015, has won the Contemporary Inspirational Award at the AMAs 2020, beating top contenders of the category, Kanye West and for KING & COUNTRY. The Christian music singer's debut album has been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The artiste produced three No. 1 singles, ‘First’, ‘Trust in You’ and ‘O'Lord’, on the Billboard Christian Airplay chart.

At the 48th American Music Awards, hosted by Taraji Henson, Daigle won the honor based on fan votes. It goes without saying that the artiste's fans are celebrating the win and a lot of users are applauding AMAs for giving it to a much-deserved singer. A fan said, “Congratulations @Lauren_Daigle I really love your songs, they inspire and calm me down.” Another said, "congrats to the incredible @Lauren_Daigle you deserve this!" One tweet read: “the song you say has helped me so much throughout my life. I’m so glad god blessed me to find your beautiful music. I wish you the best on your music career you’ll always have my support.”



 



 



 

Daigle’s achievements are endless as she rose to the top charts in a very short span. Her third studio album, 'Look Up Child', released in 2018, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart for the success of the single ‘You Say’. This made her project the highest-charting Christian album by a woman in over 20 years. It also reached No. 1 on the Top Christian Albums chart with 115,000 units sold in the first week of the release. ‘You Say’ reached heights by peaking at No. 29 on the Billboard 100 chart and broke the world record for the number of weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart at 101 weeks for any solo artiste to stay.

Apart from her two Grammy wins, Daigle has also won seven GMA Dove Awards, five Billboard Music Awards, two American Music Awards, and has had four No. 1 singles on both the Billboard Christian Airplay and Hot Christian Songs chart.
