At the 48th American Music Awards, the Favorite Duo or Goup Pop Rock award went to BTS. The global K-pop sensation is taking the award home for the second consecutive year. This year, BTS were nominated with Maroon 5 and the Jonas Brothers. The K-pop band would also be performing 'Life Goes On' and 'Dynamite' shortly at the show after their latest album ‘BE’ released on Friday, November 20.

BTS has been setting their artistry way ahead with remarkable commercial success as well as getting critical acclaim for their nuanced take on blending pop with everything else. This year, their August release, 'Dynamite', was a summer retro pop that got them their first number one in Billboard Hot 100 marking them one of the three bands of all time to have this title, lining with the Jonas Brothers and Aerosmith.

Their 'Map of the Soul: 7' album which released at the beginning of this year also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making it their fourth consecutive album to appear on the list. This also makes BTS the only Korean act ever to achieve this iconic milestone. BTS also officially became the group to have the highest number of iTunes in history with 'Black Swan'.

Following health protocols for the Covid-19 pandemic, BTS received the award from South Korea and the group thanked their fans for their incessant love and support. Group leader RM also mentioned that the group snagged the trophy last year as well marking their strong legacy. Fans are, however, more excited for their performance as they are world premiering in a few minutes with their new title track.

The group has also stated that at the face of discomfort around the world, the group wants to remain a source of comfort and provide healing. A fan said, “They are so special to me and I really appreciate the songs they create for ARMY” while another said, Teamwork makes the Dream work", talking about the group's exemplary bond that is inspirational to their fans worldwide.
