AMAs 2020: Dua Lipa's 'Don't Start Now' wins Favorite Pop/Rock song, fans label track 'pop disco perfection'

The ongoing 2020 American Music Awards, hosted by Taraji P Henson, has revealed the winner of the Favorite Song in the Pop/Rock category. The category had a total of five nominations which were 'Someone You Loved' by Lewis Capaldi, 'Don't Start Now' by Dua Lipa, 'Circles' by Post Malone, 'The Box' by Roddy Ricch, and 'Blinding Lights' by The Weeknd.
To announce the winner of the Favorite Song in the Pop/Rock category, actress Cara Delevingne made her way to the stage and, after giving a shoutout to Megan Thee Stallion's new album 'Good News', announced Dua Lipa's 'Don't Start Now' as the winner.
Dua Lipa's win was officially announced by ABC's Twitter handle writing, "The #AMAs for Favorite Song – Pop/Rock goes to Dua Lipa," while the official AMA handle wrote, "Did a full 180, crazy! 'Don't Start Now' is your #AMAs Favorite Song – Pop/Rock! Congrats, Dus Lipa!" The clip of the announcement was also uploaded with the caption, "Winning now, performing later! Dus Lipa accepts the #AMAs for Favorite Song – Pop/Rock. Congrats!"

Lipa accepted the award from all the way in London and thanked the song's writers Caroline Ailin, Emily Warren and Ian Kirkpatrick for the victory. She also thanked her fans and her record label Warner. Dua will be performing her song 'Levitating' later in the night.
One fan, reacting to Lipa's win, said, "You don’t know how much she deserves this, especially with Don’t Start Now. Pop disco perfection. Get it, queen. Good job AMAs, you know the real deal," while another, expressing similar sentiments, tweeted, "She deserves too much!! #AMAs I'm so happy for her." This is Lipa's first-ever American Music Awards. She has also been nominated for Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock category. Roddy Ricch and the Weeknd are the most nominated artists with eight, followed by Megan Thee Stallion with five. Lipa's win was followed by the performance by Megan Thee Stallion.
