The 48th American Music Awards is here and despite the impact of the continuing global pandemic, music lovers waited with bated breath to see which one of their favorite artistes and songs won the awards on November 22. Hosted by Taraji P Henson, the event was graced with performances by artistes such as Megan Thee Stallion, Nelly, BTS, Billie Eilish and others.

While some of the artistes took to the stage at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles to present their respective performances, a few artists or bands such as BTS performed from other locations across the world.

With the "rigorous" Covid-19 protocol in place, the 2020 AMAs was being held in the presence of fewer than 100 audience members. All the dancers were masked while the artists had personal protection equipment on when not on the stage.

Three soundtrack albums were nominated under the category of the favorite soundtrack, including 'Trolls World Tour: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack', 'Birds of Prey: The Album' and 'Frozen II'. All the albums were created by various artistes.

Based on public votes on the official AMAs website, 'Birds of Prey' was presented with the winning award under the category. Fans were excited about the big win and many said that it deserves a Grammy as well.

A significant number of fans have noted that the soundtrack from the movie will be nominated for the prestigious award. One thrilled fan tweeted, "wait birds of prey could be nominated for a grammy" Another added to that saying, "Birds of Prey soundtrack won. Coming for the Grammys next"

The rest of the fans congratulated the soundtrack on winning the title under American Music Awards, " Birds Of Prey won Best Soundtrack at the #AMAas it should! Congratulations @jurneesmollett !!!"

However, one fan was irked with the fact that the award ceremony ended before the award was presented for Birds of Prey. The agitated Twitter user wrote, "What the Hell!! The #amas completely cut off the other awards. I’m so pissed! I wanted to watch Birds of Prey win best Soundtrack, not read that it won! Now I can’t even here it be announced at an awards show. Not fair!!"
