The 2020 American Music Awards is taking place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. A production spokesperson told Rolling Stone that the event was expected fewer than 100 audience members owing to the pandemic while following the COVID-19 protocol rigorously.
The artistes reportedly have personal protection equipment on when they aren't performing while the dancers are all seen wearing masks. Despite the restriction, the starry night hosted by Taraji P Henson has witnessed a series of performances by Bebe Rexha and Doja Cat, Benny Blanco with Justin Biber and Shawn Mendes among many others.
While The Weeknd and Roddy Rich are leading with eight nods each, Megan Thee Stallion is next with five nominations. Meanwhile, Bad Bunny, DaBaby, Doja Cat, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift are tied with four nominations each.
The event is using multiple stages with a separate crew for each one of them, who are required to socially distance with facial masks on.
