'Alaskan Bush People': Snowbird skins a dead rat to make slippers, fans say this time she 'took it too far'

The Brown family does not disappoint and it's not for nothing that the 'Alaskan Bush People' has managed to stay on the air for 12 whole seasons. They keep setting the bar higher with some of the antics they pull on the show. Even though a section of the audience finds them entertaining, the family has been rebuked one too many times for the utterly revolting projects and activities they undertake, for instance, Snowbird aka Birdy's project for keeping herself warm in the winter.

The 25-year-old was seen thawing a frozen packrat that she caught on the farm with hot water, skinning it, feeding rat meat bits to her chickens, tanning the hide, stretching it out, and then making slippers out of it. Not only that, she put them on with great pride and was happy that she could pull this project off. Birdy admitted to knowing that a lot of people would find the idea of rat slippers disgusting but she does not feature in that list of people.

She attributed the idea of using rat hide to make slippers to her parents saying she was taught to not waste any part of the animals. Not just that, audiences also had to watch her shove the slippers on her brother Gabe's face. He had come to her cabin to check on her saying that it's essential to keep in touch to make sure everyone is safe and sane.

However, he was greeted to the sight of Birdy wearing slippers that totally threw him off. In a confessional, Gabe said that he believes Birdy's been spending a lot of time with her cats and that she needs a man to tell her that rats are not made to make shoes out of.

The audience watching the show completely mirrored Gabe's feelings and they were not really happy to see something this nasty in the episode. "@AlaskanBushPPL I can't watch this show since Bird made the rat casserole for the cats but the intro clip tonight of Birds rat skin slippers is more than I can bear.... goodbye," wrote a viewer.

"I'm sorry but that is very disgusting. Birdie definitely took this one way too far," read another tweet. "#alaskanbushpeople THAT IS NASTY AS HECK," wrote another. "#alaskanbushpeople Bird is gonna get bubonic plague or respiratory disease," wrote a worried watcher.
