ACM Awards 2020: Booze in every country song? Fans say it proves 'how much we really needed alcohol this year'

The 55th edition of the renowned Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards is currently underway in three different venues — The Grand Ole Opry House, The Ryman Auditorium and The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Texas. The award show has a star-studded line-up in order along with the award presentation. Miranda Lambert, Mickey Guyton, Eric Church, Tim McGraw, Trisha Yearwood and Blake Shelton with Gwen Stefani are some of the main performers of the evening.

Fans have been showering love on Twitter while getting mesmerized by the stellar performances. While watching the current edition of the show, some fans noticed how every song is somehow related to alcohol. We feel that there might be a connection because some of the songs are titled 'Whiskey Glasses', 'Beer Can't Fix', 'One Margarita' and 'Hole in the Bottle' among others.

Social media users stormed the micro-blogging site and shared their opinion on the hilarious coincidence.  One said, "Not someone saying that the acm awards are like an AA meeting bc everyone keeps singing about alcohol plsss." Another tweeted, "ACM Awards are out here proving how much we really needed alcohol this past year...+Tropical drink One Margarita, Wine glass Hole in the Bottle, Tumbler glass Whiskey Glasses, Clinking beer mugs Beer Can’t Fix #ACMawards @ACMawards @LukeBryanOnline."

Another user pointed out the same and asserted, "My son is making me watch the ACM awards because Taylor Swift is going to perform and he's obsessed with her. I'm not a fan of country music, I like a few older songs that sound more like rock. I have no idea who most of these artistes are, but every song has been about alcohol."

"Watching #ACMawards and notice every problem is solved w alcohol. Whiskey seems to be the elixir of choice, but beer also does the trick. Very 2020. Carry on.," one fan said and another posted, "Um, I realize drinking songs are nothing new in country music, but has literally every song so far been about alcohol? (Except Bluebird, maybe?) #ACMawards."One even went on to say: "Nashville sponsored by Alcohol? So far we have had performances about Margaritas, Wine, Beer, and some dude with high heeled boots and an unapologetic mullet singing about whiskey."

The event was initially scheduled to be held on April 5 this year but unfortunately had to be pushed due to the global pandemic.

ACM Awards 2020 also saw country music legend Keith Urban taking over as the host for the evening for the very first time. The award show did not include a live audience but featured a star-studded line-up of performers to make sure there is no dull moment for viewers.
