ACM Awards 2020: Blake Shelton's 'God's Country' bags Single of the Year award, ecstatic fans say 'hallelujah'

The wait for the most prestigious awards for country musicians is now over as after being delayed for six months, the 55th annual Academy of Country Music Awards is now back and is taking place in Nashville, not just that, the live event is being broadcasted from three different venues, the Grand Ole Opry House, Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, and The Bluebird Cafe. The division happened in order to follow the safety norms amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The most waited award of the evening, the Single of the Year award was bagged by Blake Shelton for 'God’s Country'.

Other nominees for the category included 'One Man Band' by Old Dominion, 'Rainbow' by Kacey Musgraves, 'Rumor' by Lee Brice, 'What If I Never Get Over You' by Lady A.

'God's Country' was released on March 29, 2019, as the first single and partial title track from Shelton's compilation album 'Fully Loaded: God's Country'. The song was written by Devin Dawson, Jordan Schmidt and Hardy. Apart from this, Shelton also gave a stellar performance with girlfriend Gwen Stefani, the duo performed, 'Happy Anywhere'. "I hope everyone out there is doing their best to stay healthy," Shelton shared before the performance. "Gwen and I wish that we could be in Nashville tonight, but we couldn't. But, through the magic of television, voila! Welcome back to the Bluebird Cafe, everybody."

As soon as the award was announced, people started congratulating Shelton, as one user tweeted, "Hallelujah! A huge Congratulations to @blakeshelton for winning single of the year the the great song #GodsCountry! This award was well-deserved. This was one of the best songs ever!" While another netizen said, "You deserved it Blake God's Country is an awsome song and the way you sound singing it is unreal!"



 



 

More and more people congratulated him on social media and said, "Sooooooo Happy for your win!! You deserve it!!! God’s Country and video are so good!!
