LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Melanie Lynskey revealed that her husband, Jason Ritter, secretly worked as a stuntman in 'The Last of Us'. The 45-year-old actress played Kathleen, the leader of a group of revolutionaries in Kansas City, in a two-episode guest part.

Her tale concludes in Episode 5 titled 'Endur and Survive' with a major shootout as the survivors are attacked by a herd of clickers, the frightening former humans from the show who are now infected with a parasitic fungus and hunt their prey by sound.

'I shot him once. Yeah. Why not?'

In a cameo appearance in the HBO drama series, Melanie Lynskey's husband didn't look like himself at all. That's because Ritter, 43, portrayed one of the dreadful, zombie-like "clickers" from the show.

During a conversation on 'The Tonight Show', Lynskey, 45, disclosed his covert participation. "He was a stunt person. He trained with the stunt people, and he just did all these amazing stunts. It's like his lifelong dream," she told host Jimmy Fallon, 48. "He got put in makeup and came out of the ground and was falling over and doing all these [flips]."

Lynskey did come up against her own spouse during the infected attack. "I shot him once. Yeah. Why not?" she said, before joking the moment was "so romantic." When a viewer posted a behind-the-scenes photo, Ritter also acknowledged his appearance on the program. The Twitter user speculated that it was, "Take Your Husband to Work" Day. "Just the best day", Ritter tweeted back.

Ritter is set to do a cameo in Lynskey's 'Yellowjackets'

Ritter and Lynskey have previously collaborated before; in fact, Lynskey's show 'Yellowjackets' is preparing for its own Ritter cameo, as per People. The 'Joan of Arcadia' alum will make a brief appearance in one of the second season's episodes of the forthcoming Showtime thriller, as per Variety.  Additionally, Lynskey and Ritter co-starred in the true-crime thriller 'Candy' on Hulu.

Melanie claps back at 'ANTM' winner Adrianne Curry

Last month Melanie criticized Adrianne Curry for claiming that she didn't have the physique of a "post-apocalyptic warlord". A picture of Lynskey from a magazine photoshoot was shared by Adrianne, 40, the 2003 winner of 'America's Next Top Model's Season 1. She added, "her body says life of luxury... not post-apocalyptic warlord. Where's Linda Hamilton when you need her?" referring to Hamilton's portrayal of Sarah Connor in 'The Terminator' franchise.

Melanie took to Twitter to defend herself. She wrote, "Firstly- this is a photo from my cover shoot for InStyle magazine, not a still from HBO's The Last Of Us. And I'm playing a person who meticulously planned & executed an overthrow of FEDRA. I am supposed to be SMART, ma'am. I don't need to be muscly. That's what henchmen are for."
