Hulu's true-crime drama 'Candy' opened to mixed responses from the audiences two days into its five-day, five-episode run. The thriller starring Jessica Biel and Melani Lynskey follows the true-crime story of Candy Montgomery who gained attention after the investigation revealed that Gore was reportedly struck 41 times with the ax. During her trial, Montgomery admitted to hitting her friend multiple times with the ax, then left the crime scene and covered up the evidence.

The second episode sees the start of the affair between Candy and Betty Gore's husband Allan (Pablo Schreiber), while also providing a comprehensive look at the families of both characters. Safe to say, they weren't the happiest or the greatest. That said, some part of Twitter still praised the show for the crisp writing and the stellar cast performance, while some felt the show didn't really need the miniseries treatment.

"#CandyOnHulu oh boy, Candy is a red hot- and not in a good way. #1 is Watchable & sickly entertaining. Also very good retro interiors - & designs - including old Target. Don’t listen to the critics," a fan tweeted. "Can we take a quick moment to acknowledge that Jessica Biel looks amazing, even in that terrible wig.. and her coming down the stairs/washing her clothes? Goals #CandyOnHulu," another seconded. "@JessicaBiel is awesome as Candy, @melanielynskey is awesome as Betty, @schreiber_pablo is awesome as Allan, and @timothycsimons is awesome as Pat @candyonhulu is the best show ever #CandyOnHulu"a tweet raved.

"Just when I was obsessed with Amanda Seyfried & Renee Zellweger winning all the awards… now I gotta root for Jessica Biel #CandyOnHulu," one of the fans opined. "So far #CandyOnHulu is so good… a new episode every day is dope .. for #truecrime nuts like me," a comment said.

On the other end, some didn't find the show as fascinating. "Halfway through ep2 of #CandyOnHulu. I continue to be underwhelmed. Disappointing but oh well. Maybe I'm just not the target audience," one of the fans opined. "#CandyOnHulu I don't know if this story needed a mini-series treatment. Barbara Hershey gave one of the greatest TV movie performances ever in the first telling, 1990's "A Killing In A Small Town". I can't imagine anyone topping her," another fan wrote.
