'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood' is a heartwarming take on the life of well-known television icon Fred Rodgers. Though the movie is set to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, it is scheduled to release in theatres much later.

'A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood' will have its world premiere at the TIFF in September but it is scheduled to hit theatres on November 22, 2019. 

Plot

'A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood' revolves around an award-winning skeptical journalist Lloyd Vogel (Matthew Rhys) who reluctantly agrees on an assignment to write an Esquire character profile on well-known television icon Fred Rogers (Tom Hanks) with his perspective on how life transformed after he had an encounter with Rogers. The movie is based on the Esquire article Can You Say... Hero? by Tom Junod.

Cast

The movie is star-studded. Tom Hanks plays the role of Fred Rodgers. Matthew Rhys, known for his role in 'The Americans', plays Lloyd Vogel (based on Tom Junod), a journalist. Susan Kelechi Watson, known for her work in 'This Is Us', portrays the role of Andrea Vogel (based on Janet Junod), Lloyd's wife. Chris Cooper who is known for his role in American Beauty plays the role of Jerry Vogel (based on Lou Junod), Lloyd's father.
