'6 Underground': Here a glimpse at the landmarks featured in the trailers for Michael Bay's action drama on Netflix
Netflix's upcoming film '6 Underground' could be one of the most expensive films on this platform to date — after all, we would expect nothing less from Michael Bay. The trailers released so far have shown some high-adrenaline action sequences — running down domes, falling off buildings and so on and the viewers might be wondering where these shots were filmed.
Here are some of the locations featured in the two trailers across countries like the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Italy and Hungary.
UAE
Sheikh Zayed Bridge and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi
The Sheikh Zayed Bridge is quite unique and was designed by the late Dame Zaha Hadid — the first woman to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize. The bridge was designed to look like the sand dunes one would see in the deserts in the UAE.
Pictured behind the bridge is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque — the largest mosque in the country — where visitors are allowed to explore. Both landmarks are named after the country's first President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Liwa Desert
The Liwa Desert is located in the western region of the UAE and is part of the Empty Desert Quarter that stretches across Saudi Arabia and Oman as well. The Liwa sand dunes are best known for the dune bashing experience visitors to the Middle East hope for.
The Aldar Headquarters, Abu Dhabi
You have seen the bad guys pushing others out of this architectural marvel. The distinctive structure, which is the first circular building of its kind in the Middle East, is also in Abu Dhabi.
Louvre Abu Dhabi
The Louvre Museum's Abu Dhabi branch opened in 2017 and is known for its distinctive ceiling which you may have spotted at the beginning of the trailer. Housing artworks from around the world, the museum is located on the Saadiyat Island Cultural District.
Yas Marina Circuit
The Yas Marina Circuit is the location of Abu Dhabi's Grand Prix. It is located on Yas Island, which also features some other attractions such as the Ferrari World and the Warner Brothers World theme parks.
Italy
Florence Cathedral
The Florence Cathedral, situated in Florence, was first under construction in the 13th century and was completed by the 15th century. Viewers of the series 'Medici' might recognize it from the show's second season. In the first season, Cosimo de' Medici (played by Richard Madden) aims to complete the difficult construction of the dome. In the trailer, you can see Ben Hardy's character running down the dome.
Piazza Santa Maria Novella
One of the car chase sequences in '6 Underground' takes place in the Piazza Santa Maria Novella in Florence. The Piazza is one of the main squares in Florence and was completed in the 13th century.
Hungary
Heroes' Square
The Heroes' Square in Budapest, Hungary, and is known for its iconic statue complex featuring the Seven Chieftains of the Magyars. The Man with a Snake statue is a symbol of war.
