As promised, the iconic pop-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer aka 5SOS dropped their new single called ‘2011’ to celebrate their 10-year anniversary as a band. The song was released on Friday, December 3. The four-member group consisting of Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin, Michael Clifford, and Calum Hood have been sharing a lot of new content off late to make sure their fans get hyped for the celebration.
 
The name of the new song ‘2011’ refers to the year the band was formed. Social media users got emotional while recalling the journey of the Australian group as they enjoyed the new Friday release. 5 Seconds of Summer has been hosting a lot of podcasts on their official YouTube channel sharing never before heard stories. The renowned band had also announced a live show to mark the 10th anniversary. While the fans loved the 5 Seconds of Summer’s efforts towards the occasion, they also requested them to drop new merch for the same.

5SOS releases '2011' to celebrate 10-year anniversary 

The brand new drop takes their fans back on their journey as they remember the good old days. The song has been produced by Michael Clifford. The track opens with Calum singing, “I miss the days when we were young and not too wise/ Only doin' what felt right/ With open hearts and open eyes/ I miss the days before I second guessed my life/ Wasn't always asking why/ I remember what it's like.”  Michael Clifford then jins him in the second verse singing, “I miss the days when we could live outside our heads/ Before we were our nervous wrecks/ That's the thing about regret.”  You can stream the new single here.
 
Speaking about their upcoming release, the band had shared a cover featuring all the members and captioned it as, “This Friday we’re releasing a new song called 2011, just for you. We wrote 2011 to celebrate 10 years of this band, 10 years of adventures through life, and most of all, 10 years of you, our fans.” They added, “We love you, and we can’t wait for the next 10. Out everywhere December 3rd.”

Taking to Twitter, the fans of 5SOS shared how much the song meant to them as they also congratulated the squad for completing 10 years. One fan dubbed the song as “literally life changing” as another mentioned, “i successfully spent my time asleep streaming 2011 and i will continue to do so.” One loyal fan shared, “Wait wait wait how does 2011 have elements of every era !!!! like it has a self titled feel but also a slfl feel but also a youngblood feel but also a calm feel ??? like they really summed up their whole career in one song. im emotional.”
 
The next one shared, “5sos thank you for giving us a meaningful an absolute masterpiece.” Meanwhile, another fan posted, “2011 MAKES ME SO EMOTIONAL PLS THIS SONG IS EVERYTHING.” One user added, “Four guys chasing their dreams are now turning ten as a band, I just want to say I’m grateful to be a part of their history.” And, one asserted, “Thank you for saving my life in the most beautiful way:'). There aren't enough words to thank you for everything you do.
