37th Annual American Cinematheque Awards honors Helen Mirren and Kevin Goetz & Screen Engine

Los Angeles, California (Release): The American Cinematheque hosted its 37th Annual American Cinematheque Awards on February 15, at the Beverly Hilton, honoring Helen Mirren and Kevin Goetz & Screen Engine. Helen Mirren received the American Cinematheque Award, and Kevin Goetz & Screen Engine were honored with the Power of Cinema Award presented by Hill Valley.

The event is an annual fundraiser for the non-profit American Cinematheque organization that continues its year-round programming at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, Los Feliz 3 Theatre in Los Feliz, and Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.
Pierce Brosnan, Alan Cumming, Bryan Cranston, Vin Diesel, Harrison Ford, Taylor Hackford, Andrea Riseborough and Patrick Stewart each took to the stage throughout the night to toast Mirren. Bryan Cranston began by talking about working with Mirren on 'Trumbo', 'Love Ranch', and 'The One and Only Ivan'. Cranston was followed by Patrick Stewart who shared a few of his favorite memories of Mirren including their experience at the Royal Shakespeare Company.


Next, Pierce Brosnan stepped onstage to share his admiration for Mirren and hopes to have the honor to act in a scene together, while Andrea Riseborough highlighted Mirren’s integrity, courage, humility, gracefulness, and body of unparalleled work. Mirren’s husband, Taylor Hackford, talked about when they first met when Mirren was reading for a role in 'White Nights'.
Alan Cumming spotlighted Mirren’s incredible sense of humor, followed by Vin Diesel who talked about their countless memories including celebrating birthdays together and filming in Rome for 'Fast X'. Finally, Harrison Ford presented Mirren with the American Cinematheque Award.


In accepting the award, Mirren thanked the American Cinematheque for all of their incredible work. Mirren continued, “My career is a coat of many colors.” Mirren added, “For me, the overriding color in the landscape of my life, honestly, is the rosy glow of the generosity, kindness, wit, intelligence, dedication, and the inspiration of all those thespians. Those lovies, the talent, the actors I have worked with… I’m one of their people. Theirs is the language I speak, no matter which country they come from. Thank you. Thank you all. You are my career and I am you. Thank you very much.”
