Saldana's love story
After unsuccessful relationships with My Fashion Database CEO Keith Britton and Bradley Cooper, Saldana found love with Italian artist Perego in 2013. The couple's connection was immediate, with sparks flying before Zoe even saw Marco's face during their first meeting on a flight to New York. Just three months later, the lovebirds exchanged their vows in a ceremony held in London, and the couple made the decision to change their last names to Zoe Saldana-Perego and Marco Perego-Saldana.
Together, the couple welcomed three sons: Cy and Bowie, born in 2014, and Zen, born in 2017. Zoe credits Marco for helping her let her guard down, saying, "Since I've been with Marco, I've been lowering my guard. Finally, when we had our boys, I looked at my husband and I realized: I was meant for you, and you were meant for me."
Protecting their children's privacy
Saldana recently shared how she and her husband, Perego, prioritize their children's privacy. "Marco and I have a great deal of respect for the privacy of our kids," she remarked before adding, "They're dependent on us, so they're not in a position to make choices for themselves. We have to choose for them, and part of that is giving them the anonymity that they need so that they can feel safe and not aware of anything around them."
Saldana also expressed her concerns about how being in the public eye could affect her children's well-being. "When cameras are in their faces, it would probably be traumatizing for a child who has yet to understand what's going on," she said. "This is the path that we've chosen. We have to wait for their choices to be heard, so in the meantime, we need to protect their environment, and we're all about that", said Saldana. Overall, Saldana and Perego are committed to shielding their children from unnecessary exposure to the media and preserving their privacy until they are old enough to make their own decisions.
