With the Snyder Cut of DC's 'Justice League' finally confirmed to arrive on HBO Max in 2021, fans are now busy speculating what new elements the movie could bring. And director Zack Snyder has stoked the flames with a new clip teasing the Apokoliptan tyrant Darkseid. Snyder shared the clip on Twitter, which shows Wonder Woman / Diana (Gal Gadot) discovering a cave painting of the New God. The ancient artwork is surrounded by some text in what appears to be ancient Greek and that brings up an interesting possibility.

In the New 52, Darkseid was given a connection to Themyscira and the Amazons with the introduction of Grail, the half-Amazonian daughter of Darkseid. Born at the same time as Diana, Grail was prophesied to cause great destruction, causing her mother to take her and run away from their island home.

Grail would eventually grow up to become an enemy of both Darkseid and the Justice League, earning the title of Godkiller. She is one of the few people who may hold the power to kill her father, which makes her either a powerful ally or a terrible enemy for our heroes. With the new clip suggesting that Darkseid had a close encounter with the Amazons, the possibility of Grail being a part of 'Justice League' has shot up. Earlier, there were rumors that Algerian-French actress Sofia Boutella of 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' and 'The Mummy' fame may be playing the character in the movie.

Those rumors were never officially confirmed. However, throwing Grail into the mix would most certainly shake things up for the movie.

If Grail is introduced in the Snyder Cut, chances are she may either be an ally to Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) and his master Darkseid or maybe she could work with Steppenwolf to lure Darkseid to Earth so she can kill him. Then again, she could also serve as an ally to the Justice League, at least for as long as their interests are aligned.

Right now we don't know if Grail is going to be in the movie or not. But one thing we know for sure, Darkseid is.

'Zack Snyder's Justice League' will arrive on HBO Max in 2021.
