'World of Dance': Chibi Unity fail to make it to redemption round, fans say the group was 'robbed'
Japanese contemporary dance troupe Chibi Unity might have given only two performances on the show, but fans are already rallying behind this junior division dance group. After wowing the judges with their impeccable performance in the qualifiers round, the group effortlessly managed to make their way to the duels round. In the duels round, they were pitted against fellow contemporary dance trio-MDC 3.
Although Ne-Yo surprised everybody by picking Chibi Unity as the winner of duels, judges Jennifer Lopez and Derek Hough picked MDC 3's performance as the winners. Thus, MDC 3 managed to make it to semifinals round. But fans were hopeful about watching Chibi Unity fight it out in the redemption round, after watching their brilliant choreography onstage during the duels.
When it was finally time for the guest judge Twitch to pick the two performers who would be battling out one last time to secure a spot in the semifinals, he picked The Young Cast and James & Harris, leaving Chibi Unity to make their way back home. Many fans were unhappy with Twitch's pick and expressed their unhappiness over the Japanese dance troupe not making it to the redemption round.
Several fans took to their Twitter to express how Chibi Unity got 'robbed' after not being picked to perform in the redemption round. A fan tweeted, "Chibi unity got robbed. James and Harris and Chibi should have moved on. #worldofdance." Another fan wrote, "I was hoping for Chibi Unity and Young Cast for Redemption...1 outta 2 ain't bad tho #WorldOfDance."
"If i i could’ve picked, i honestly would’ve picked chibi unity and 305, im sad they didnt get picked #worldofdance," commented an unhappy fan.
Another fan expressed, "#WorldofDance I AM HURT!! Chibi Unity would have brought WAYYY more excitement to that whack redemption!" "@worldofdance needs to get Chibi Unity back as a wild card cuz they were #WorldOfDance," shared a fan. Another fan pointed, "@chibi_unity or @jamesand_harris #WorldofDance for James and Harris they actually did their performance before the Redemption to a friend of theirs who died from suicide that's why they might end up getting the Redemption against the Japanese Junior dance team."
