A woman who attended her son's wedding in a black short dress has come under fire. Dissatisfied Reddit users claimed she looked more appropriate for a "sexy funeral." The picture was uploaded by a Reddit member under the 'Wedding Shaming' forum after noticing her "mother-in- law's" peculiar outfit choice.

The user claimed that the woman in the photo was the mother-of-the-groom and she was standing next to the soon-to-wed couple wearing a plunging little black dress. The black dress' dramatic overskirt and plunging V-neck gave it a more exposed appearance. The anonymous poster asked the forum's 503,000 users to comment on the look, writing the caption as "Mother-in-law's church wedding look." Two days after the image was posted, it gained 1,400 upvotes and more than 400 comments, sparking a heated debate.

One Reddit member of the forum praised the look and wrote, "Sorry if I had a body like that, I'd wear that dress too!" On the other hand, another forum user slammed the mother-in-law for looking like she was going to prom wrote, "Oh. No I think the MIL has a phenomenal body but this is not appropriate wear for her son's wedding. She looks like she's going to prom."

In an effort to defend the mother-in-law's attire, a person remarked, "At least it's not white." Refusing to accept the user's defense so easily, another person responsed, "It's black though, like she's going to a sexy funeral."

Another individual, disapproving of the mother-in-law's choice of attire, wrote, "The lady looks amazing in that dress. A wedding is about the bride & groom. No one, not the wedding party, not the family, not the guests should wear anything to grab attention for themselves. It's not the MILs day. She's got plenty of other occasions to shine."

Another user condemned those who thought the mother-in-law's outfit was inappropriate and commented, "Uhh is this ageist or what? I guess yall have way strict church view or something, cus this is totally fine to me. And she look gorgeous. Not tacky and not showing too much of anything. She look elegant."

A person who referred to her outfit as a "revenge dress," wrote, "There must be an ex-FIL in the picture - she's totally channeling Diana's 'REVENGE DRESS.' (and I like it)." Another, who completely disapproved of the outfit choice for a "church wedding," wrote, "There's a time and a place for this look and a church wedding isn't it! She just looks desperate to take attention from the bride. No it's not white but still totally inappropriate."

"Women are so f******g petty.... every dude there is wearing a version of the exact same outfit and feeling like James Bond and you b*****s wanna rip each other apart because one woman needs to wear a dress you all agree with... seriously with your b******t," another individual who made an effort to silence everyone wrote.
