Will Smith helped Bruce Willis in 'very dark hours' when ex Demi Moore started dating Ashton Kutcher
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Bruce Willis is currently receiving support from his ex-wife Demi Moore as he faces the challenges of Aphasia, a condition that affects his ability to communicate, which has now progressed to frontotemporal dementia. The ex-couple is now on good terms, although their relationship faced its fair share of hardships over a course of 13 years.
Willis, who recently announced his retirement from acting following his heartbreaking diagnosis, experienced intense feelings of jealousy when his ex-wife Moore began dating the charismatic Ashton Kutcher. During this challenging time, it was Will Smith who offered words of wisdom and support to Willis, providing guidance during what he described as "very dark hours" of his life.
'You’ve got to show your kids it’s okay'
Willis, who had a series of unsuccessful relationships following his split wih Moore, attributed his newfound perspective to the guidance and support of Smith. "During some very dark hours he talked to me about it," Bruce told Playboy in 2007. "He said, 'Dude, you’ve got to do whatever it takes to get the kids and all the spouses or the girlfriend together. You’ve got to show your kids it’s okay'. It was like a light went on. Ding. So Will, thanks. And thanks for all those good movies you’re making."
The 'Men in Black' star has firsthand experience in navigating complex relationships, as his wife Jada Pinkett Smith once referred to their dynamic with Will's ex-wife, Sheree Zampino, as a "non-sexual throuple." Smith's relationship tips probably helped him as Willis later formed a close friendship with Kutcher and even attended his wedding to Moore in a Kabbalah ceremony on September 24, 2005, held at their Beverly Hills home.
'Being with Bruce is normal to me now'
Kutcher later revealed, "People ask us, 'How do you guys get on so well?' Well, I don't like everything Bruce does, and I'm sure he doesn't think everything I do is great. But being with Bruce is normal to me now. We go scuba-diving, skiing, we hang out with the girls together, we watch movies, we talk about sport."
Kutcher and Moore decided to end their relationship amidst allegations of infidelity after six years of marriage. Rumors suggested that Kutcher had cheated on Moore with a younger woman, which ultimately led to their split. Since their respective divorces, Kutcher has found happiness with 'Friends with Benefits' star Mila Kunis, with whom he now shares two children.
