Smith and Lawrence confirm 'Bad Boys 4'
Previously, Smith and Lawrence had simultaneously announced that they were working on 'Bad Boys 4' through a video they posted on Instagram. The clip started with Smith driving to Lawrence's place, teasing his big announcement. Suddenly, 'Shake Ya Tailfeather' by Nelly, Diddy, and Murphy Lee from the 'Bad Boys II' soundtrack blared through the speakers, hinting at the forthcoming film. "I wish I was you not knowing what I'm about to show me," Smith shared with the camera. Upon arriving, Smith was greeted by Lawrence, who flashed a smile and asked, "It's about that time?" The two confirmed the production of the fourth 'Bad Boys' movie.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are set to direct the fourth installment of the 'Bad Boys' franchise, with the previous cast from 'Bad Boys: For Life', with Paola Nnez, Vanessa Hudgens, and Alexander Ludwig returning.
The script has been written by Chris Bremner, while Martin Lawrence, James Lassiter, Chad Oman, Mike Stenson, Barry Waldman, and Jon Mone will serve as executive producers. Jerry Bruckheimer, Smith under his Westbrook banner, and Doug Belgrad will again handle production.
The plot is currently being kept under wraps, but Dane is rumored to be playing the antagonist.
Lawrence and Smith join hands
Both Lawrence and Smith were recently spotted in Atlanta, working on the upcoming film. Since Smith's controversial incident at the 2022 Academy Awards, where he slapped Chris Rock, he has only appeared in one movie, which is the Apple TV+ release 'Emancipation' in 2022.
In an interview with Ebony, Lawrence put any rumors to rest about the fourth 'Bad Boys' movie not happening. He mentioned that he has "got one more" installment in him "at least". He also reflected on the success of the first 'Bad Boys' film and said, "For us to come together and prove that we can deliver, and we can pull people into the box office — that two Black stars, two sitcom stars, could make money at the box office [was huge]."
