After Twitch just revealed its promoted content policy, MrBeast has come out swinging, criticizing the company. MrBeast joined the protesting streamers and angrily slammed the Amazon-owned platform for putting in stricter sponsored content rules while "handicapping" artists' earnings on purpose.

‘It’s time for Kick to take over’

MrBeast took to Twitter and said, “Hey @Twitch how about instead of handicapping what creators make, you help them make more? Seems more logical.”

Additionally, Kick, a new streaming service that has had a surge in popularity recently, tweeted about the well-known YouTuber, claiming that he had followed them after Twitch made the contentious change in their guidelines.

Kick tweeted, “The goat just followed us , it’s time for Kick to Takeover.”

In his direct reply to Kick’s tweet, Mr. Beast stated that he could stream on their streaming network to oppose Twitch's new sponsorship guidelines. He said, “Might do a stream for fun just to protest twitch lol.”

Twitch’s new guidelines

Twitch announced new rules for branded streaming on June 6; they will take effect on July 1. These modifications also include limitations on the kind of "burned-in" advertisements that are permitted; in other words, these advertisements cannot be pre-recorded videos that are directly embedded into the stream itself. They also limited the size of any logos appearing on the screen to three percent or lesser.

Additionally, Twitch announced limitations on the types of promoted content that are permitted on its platform. The site forbids the advertisement of illicit substances, con artists, or "hateful products or services".

More alarmingly, though, Twitch is now cracking down on sponsored streams that contain "political content, adult-oriented products or services, weapons, tobacco products, certain financial products and services," and even "medical facilities and products".

Twitch has apologized for the uncertainty caused by the process of updating its branded content restrictions in response to the criticism the platform received.

Only a few hours later, Twitch apologized for confusing and upsetting creators in a series of tweets in response to the reaction.

“Today’s branded content policy update was overly broad. This created confusion and frustration, and we apologize for that,” the purple platform tweeted.
