‘The Boys’ drops chilling first look for season 5 and one character brings major end-of-the-world vibes
Homelander is all set to wreak havoc in the chaotic realm of 'The Boys' Season 5. Created by Eric Kripke, the fifth and final season will stage one last explosive showdown between The Boys, Homelander (Antony Starr), and Vought. The newly released posters heighten the excitement for the final season, suggesting that the stakes are higher than ever as Homelander looks down at Earth's destruction from space
The first look at 'The Boys' season 5 confirms Homelander as a full-blown harbinger of the apocalypse, hinting at the catastrophic events set to unfold in the final season. New posters also show Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) standing beside a ruined Vought tower with a crowbar, while Homelander gazes down from space at an Earth engulfed in fiery, apocalyptic explosions, setting the tone for an explosive final showdown, as per ScreenRant.
With Butcher now wielding a Supe-killing virus and unstable powers, and Homelander backed by the US government under Supe-led martial law, their long-running feud is poised to explode. Notably, Season 4 ended with The Boys captured (except Butcher and Starlight) and Homelander preparing to awaken Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), all of which signals that the eight-episode final season will deliver a brutal showdown between the franchise's two most powerful enemies.
Not only that, during a FAN EXPO panel with ScreenRant's Joe Deckelmeier, Karl Urban revealed that 'The Boys' season 5 will start at full intensity, saying, "I think we throw you in the deep end, but in a good way, because the stakes are as high as they can possibly be." He warned fans to brace for emotional impact, noting, "There's going to be some big hits early on in the very first episode," and added that these shocking moments will make viewers realize, "Oh, this s**t is for real."
Urban also stressed that "the stakes couldn't be higher, and anybody's fair game." For the unversed, 'The Boys' season 5 wrapped filming in June 2025 and is set to return in 2026, bringing crossovers with Gen V after its season 2 finale linked Starlight (Erin Moriarty), A-Train (Jessie T Usher), and the students in a growing resistance.
Although season 5 will conclude the main series, the franchise will continue with the prequel Vought Rising, featuring Ackles' Soldier Boy and Aya Cash's Stormfront. Showrunner Kripke is staging a major Supernatural reunion as well, with Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki appearing in season 5 and Urban teasing even more Supernatural cameos to come.
