Bravo's hit Franchise 'The Real Housewives' took reality television by storm. With its over the top drama, petty yet explosive catfights, and unbelievable plotlines, the series managed to garner everybody's attention alongside generous criticism. There were several mockumentaries made based on the 'Real Housewives' franchise. One such show was BET's 'Real Husbands of Hollywood'.

'Real Husbands of Hollywood' was created and produced by comedians Kevin Hart and Chris Spencer. The series featured Kevin as the protagonist and documented the daily life of him and his other celebrity friends. Each cast member is a married celebrity, who plays a fictionalized version of themselves, as they navigate through the tricky maze of Hollywood. The show's initial cast included stars such as Boris Kodjoe, Duane Martin, Nick Cannon, Nelly, JB Smoove, Oliver (played by James Davis) and Robin Thicke.

The series has been filmed to mimic the style of 'Real Housewives' franchise's episodes. In each episode, we see Kevin's desperate yet funny attempts at climbing up Hollywood's celebrity social ladder. His every attempt backfires in hilarious ways leaving him seething with jealousy over his more successful peers. The show's promo was initially screened during the 2012 BET Awards, although the official promo was released in October later that year.

The series became an instant hit amongst the audience as the light-hearted comedy appealed to everybody. Despite its success, Robin Thicke didn't return for filming the second season of the series. The singer decided to focus on his music and finishing his album instead. Although at the time, there were several rumors doing the rounds that Robin quit the show due to a tiff with co-creator Kevin, for cracking jokes on his wife Paula Patton. The rumors were squashed by both the stars.

In an interview, Robin explained his reason for quitting the show: "The thing was, I was gonna do the new season and then this song started taking off. I didn’t have the time to do the new season. I had to get this album. It was fun just to do it like once. Then you start to repeat storylines, repeating jokes.”

He also made it clear that he was never offended by Kevin or his jokes. "You know, that’s comedy. Kevin [Hart] and I actually met at Chris Paul’s wedding only about a year ago. When we met, I started doing my impersonation of Kevin for Kevin. I know his whole standup. We hit it off right away. We went to dinner and we laughed for hours like we were best friends from high school. That’s why the show was fun and so easy to do. Him and I have similar tastes in comedy," he said in the interview.

Kevin too quashed the rumors in an interview. He said, "No, no. I don't even know where all that stuff came from. That's the power of blogs. Me and Robin are very good friends.  We're cool, still talk, still hang out.  There's no love lost between Robin and myself." The show ran successfully for five seasons from 2013 to 2016. The series wasn't renewed for Season 6, and no reason or explanation was given either by the network or the showrunners Kevin and Chris. Fans still rave about the show and hope for it to make a comeback.

Although we might not see the return of this hilarious comedy on screens, the show's co-creator/ producer Chris is all set to host one of VH1's special 'Love & Hip Hop: It's a Love Thing' alongside his wife Vanessa Spencer. The couple will be joined by the franchise's couples who will discuss their love and relationship on the hour-long documentary.

'Love & Hip Hop: It's a Love Thing' is all set to premiere on February 1, at 8 pm only on VH1.
