Why did Lori Greiner refuse to deal with Barbara Corcoran? QVC queen calls real estate mogul's $100K SplashZen deal 'easy and cheap'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: SplashZen founders pitched their unique product to the Sharks on ABC's 'Shark Tank' Season 15, Episode 14, in the hopes of landing a profitable deal that would allow them to scale their business. The founders had intended to land a two-shark deal, but an agonizing back and forth between Lori Greiner and Barbara Corcoran kept that from happening.
Rodney and Tanya Rasmussen joined the Tank, asking the Sharks for $100,000 in exchange for 10 per cent equity. They told the Sharks about their business.
Robert Herjavec stated that this business is not for him; hence, he would not want to invest. Mark Cuban stated that this was not the right place for him, so he would not propose a deal either.
Kevin O'Leary stated that he does not believe this product would sell at retail; hence, he has declined to make an offer.
Lori, on the other hand, made an immediate offer of $100,000 in exchange for 20 per cent. Barbara clearly sought to "undercut" Lori, offering $100,000 for 15 per cent and $100,000 for the line of credit.
Lori was the first to reject the founders' proposal that the two Sharks make a joint offer. She threw jabs at co-shark, Barbara, implying the two could go for something "easy and cheap," but she'd rather make the offer alone.
Lori instantly changed her offer to $100K for 17.5 per cent and a $100K line of credit. Barbara also upped her offer to $100k for 14% and a $100k line of credit. The founders eventually accepted Barbara's offer.
