Why did Lori Greiner invest $150K in TORCH? US Air Force veteran Haley Marie McClain Hill gets last minute offer as 'Shark Tank' investors back out
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: TORCH founder, Haley Marie McClain Hill, was about to leave the Tank with no deal if it weren't for Lori Greiner. On the February 2 episode of 'Shark Tank', Lori came in with a last-minute offer for veteran, Haley, in order to thank her for her services.
Those who serve our nation deserve both comfort and respect. Women in the military have always been treated with less respect than men, even when it comes to clothes.
However, one lifestyle company is hoping to change this thinking for the better. Torch Warrior Wear is an apparel and lifestyle business designed specifically for military women from all walks of life.
Torch Warrior Wear's motto, "For and by modern-day women warriors," suggests a powerful and determined leader. Labeling Haley as such would be considered an understatement.
Haley has had a distinguished military career. The Pennsylvania native served in the US Air Force as an ROTC recruiter, fitness officer, and maintenance section leader.
Haley was placed into the nerve-racking scenario of being second in charge of a 300-personnel squadron, despite her lack of leadership experience. Haley was inspired to make Torch while in the Air Force after becoming dissatisfied with the uncomfortable clothing mostly designed for males.
So, when Haley came in asking $150K for a 10% stake in her company, many would have hoped that she might be getting offers from almost every Shark. However, that wasn't the case.
Haley's 'Shark Tank' debut wouldn't have made such a positive impact in her life if it weren't for Lori, who came in at the last moment to invest in Torch. Even though Lori initially asked for 25%, she was happy to settle for a 22.5% stake in TORCH, just to collaborate with Haley, and thank her for serving the country.
What is TORCH?
TORCH Warriorwear is a subscription-based service that delivers military-inspired bodysuits directly to customers. They do not use intermediaries to contact their clients, creating a direct and customized relationship between the brand and people who proudly embody the warrior spirit.
Torch Warriorwear's bodysuits include striking embroidered details on the hips and shiny seaming at the bodice. The garment is made of a soft and elastic fabric combination of 95% rayon and 5% spandex, ensuring the wearer's comfort and flexibility.
Torch Warriorwear sets out on a quest to redefine what it means to be a woman in the armed services, arguing that standards should not be forced to adhere to a male pattern or lifestyle due to a lack of alternatives. The brand envisions empowering female fighters by giving them attire that reflects their identity, while also challenging established military stereotypes.
What is the cost of TORCH?
The Short Sleeve Fearless Bodysuit costs $60 for a single purchase, but the subscription option reduces the price to $50, allowing for adjustments or cancellations at any time. The long-sleeved bodysuit costs $75 apiece. Torch Warriorwear also sells accessories such as hats and scrunchies, which may be pre-ordered on their website.
Haley Marie McClain Hill appeared in Veteran Shark Tank
Torch Warrior Wear's aim to inspire and encourage women to take on the world while being comfortable is far from over. The company's debut on 'Shark Tank' will undoubtedly benefit it, since the show's extraordinary exposure frequently results in a significant rise in sales, a phenomenon known as the 'Shark Tank' impact.
However, entrepreneur Haley is already ahead of the curve, having pitched her company successfully. Haley introduced Torch Warrior Wear to the Veteran Shark Tank in 2022.
The event invites veterans to pitch their ideas to a panel of seasoned executives, with five finalists fighting for a $50,000 grand prize. While not affiliated with ABC or 'Shark Tank', it is a well-known yearly event that has been going on for over a decade and is almost always sold out.
Haley won the prize in 2022 and was called back the following year as a judge.
'Shark Tank' Season 15 airs on Fridays on ABC at 8 pm ET.
For those who missed the episode, it will be available on demand the following day and on Hulu. Additionally, viewers can explore past seasons and episodes on Amazon Prime Video and iTunes.
