HUDSON, INDIANA: 'The Golden Bachelor' star Gerry Turner apparently had a three-year secret affair before the show began. The 72-year-old was thought to have lived with a lady he met at work and abandoned her after she gained 10 pounds.
Gerry, who will choose his final suitor in the finale on November 30, revealed on 'The Golden Bachelor' that he hasn't been on a date in years since the death of his wife Toni in July 2017.
However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a lady named Carolyn to hide her identity began seeing Gerry barely two months after Toni died.
Carolyn, who was 14 years younger than Gerry, crossed paths with him while they were both employed at a mental health clinic in Iowa.
According to her, they dated for ten months and shared a residence for one year and nine months at his $637,000 lake property in Indiana.
The website asserted that her assertion was corroborated by text exchanges with Gerry and accounts from individuals to whom she had disclosed the details.
Carolyn claimed that Gerry reached out to her in August, a month after Toni's death, pleading for her assistance in donating some of Toni's belongings to charity. She alleges that he took her out to dinner afterward to express his gratitude.
"The idea that I’d go out with a recent widower just mortifies me," she told the site. "I just really didn’t see it. Until I went back and looked at my text messages, I never realized Gerry’s texts had turned hot and heavy so relatively soon."
"I got LUCKY when you first said you would go to dinner with me two weeks ago," Gerry allegedly wrote her. "I mean, how often does an old geezer get the beautiful girl?"
Carolyn soon found herself commuting five hours to spend weekends with Gerry at his lake cottage, and he urged her to move in with him, according to the publication. He also allegedly told her elderly mother that he would marry her.
Carolyn mentioned that she resigned from her job in July 2018, moved in with Gerry, and secured another job closer to his residence.

Carolyn mentioned that things took a turn for the worse once she moved in. According to THR, Gerry informed Carolyn that her monthly share of expenses would be approximately $1,000, but she negotiated it down to $850.
She stated that she would pay half the bill for meals at restaurants ahead of time, and Gerry would pay the remainder when the bill arrived.
She further said that the TV celebrity was obsessed with cleanliness and insisted on making the bed before breakfast in the morning.
Carolyn alleges that Gerry made an offensive comment about her weight when she was getting ready for his high school reunion in October 2019. She mentioned that the stress had caused her to gain 10 pounds.
He allegedly stated, "I'm not taking you to the reunion looking like that," gesturing towards her body.
The incident resulted in their separation, and according to THR, Gerry informed Carolyn that she had to vacate the house by January 1, 2020.

On her initial day of packing, Carolyn mentioned she fell down the stairs and underwent foot surgery the following day.

According to the website, he declined to let Carolyn stay at his house during the final week of the two weeks' notice she had to give before leaving her job, leading her to stay at a hotel.
Carolyn's friends and relatives, as per THR, have reportedly corroborated her account of their apparent romance and subsequent breakup.

Carolyn wasn't the only relationship he and the Golden Bachelor producers omitted to divulge, it appears.
This fall, a reporter from The US Sun reached out to Heather Lanning, a waitress at The Shady Nook, a bar and restaurant on the lake in Hudson, Indiana.
It is situated right next door to Gerry's new lake property, which he had essentially transformed into his bachelor clubhouse.
"He dated a couple of women," said Heathe. "They weren’t long-term, but they weren't short-term either."
"He was with a couple of women for a decent amount of time, but it just didn't work out."
The 2-hour of 'The Golden Bachelor' finale will air on November 30 at 8 pm ET on ABC.
