Who is Rebecca Sananes? Ex Archewell 'head of audio' claims SHE created 'Archetypes' NOT Meghan Markle
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The outgoing head of audio at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s company Archewell claimed on TikTok that she created the Duchess of Sussex's award-winning podcast 'Archetypes'.
Executive producer Rebecca Sananes decided to speak out after an article in Hollywood Reporter titled, ‘Forty most powerful people in podcasting’, failed to include her name. Meghan, who launched the podcast as part of a $22,066,200M (£18M) deal with audio streaming giant Spotify, said that hosting the show made her "feel like a changed woman." However, just weeks before Sananes' departure was announced, the producer attributed the success of podcasts, including 'Archetypes', to herself claiming it was the producers who did most of the hard work, asserting they were "under-valued, under-credited and under-paid," as per Daily Mail.

Who is Rebecca Sananes?
Sananes is a podcaster, creator and executive producer, journalist and media personality, as per her Twitter bio. She is known for 'Archetypes' (2022), 'Pivot' (2018) and 'Land of the Giants' (2019). Sananes said on TikTok, "I am the executive producer and creator of Archetypes, hosted by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. The 40 most powerful people in podcasting are not executives, they’re not celebrity hosts, and they’re not talent agents."
"They are the producers. Producers edit, research, write, make scripts, make the sound good, score, everything you love about your favourite podcast is because a producer made it and producers are being under-valued, under-credited and under-paid and it’s making the industry boring and slow. Let’s do better," she reportedly said.
The first season of the Duchess of Sussex's much-hyped podcast included high-profile guests including Mariah Carey, Serena Williams, Jameela Jamil and Paris Hilton. The podcast was named the Pop Podcast of 2022 at the People’s Choice Awards. On the eve of Harry and Meghan's bombshell Netflix docuseries, the Duchess shared a statement thanking listeners and voters, claiming their support "means the world." She said, "Thank you to all the supporters and fans of Archetypes who voted for us for this special People's Choice Award. I loved digging my hands into the process, sitting up late at night in bed, working on the writing and creative," reported Daily Mail.
"And I loved digging deep into meaningful conversation with my diverse and inspiring guests, laughing and learning with them, and with each of you listening. It has been such a labour of love with an amazing team who were each instrumental in helping to bring this series to life. Special thanks to Terry Wood who was my right hand in this special project, along with Catherine, Rebecca, Andy, Matt, and the wider team who all worked hard to make each moment resonate. Above all, huge thanks to each of you who voted. Your support means the world," she concluded.
