Who is Nancy Mace? SC Rep hailed after she skewers trans activist on sick tweets
WASHINGTON, DC: Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace has been hailed online after she grilled a transgender activist who had shared threatening tweets about Supreme Court judges in the past. During a hearing of the House Oversight and Reform Committee on December 13, Mace reportedly had a one-on-one with Alejandra Caraballo, who is also a clinical instructor at Harvard Law School's Cyberlaw Clinic.
When Mace, who has favored LGBTQ+ rights and also supported the recently signed Respect For Marriage Act, questioned the witnesses if they believe “violent rhetoric against government officials on social media to be a ‘threat to democracy,” they all replied in the affirmative, Fox News reported. The South Carolina representative then went on to point out Caraballo’s double standards by presenting her social media posts against Supreme Court judges after Roe v Wade was overturned in June.

A now-deleted June 25 tweet from Caraballo’s account read, “The 6 justices who overturned Roe should never know peace again. It is our civic duty to accost them every time they are in public. They are pariahs. Since women don’t have their rights, these justices should never have a peaceful moment in public again.”
Mace then shared her own experience of being “accosted” by someone in Washington on January 5. She reportedly stated, “I carry a gun everywhere I go when I am in my district and I'm at home, because I know personally that rhetoric has consequences. I've had my car keyed, I've had someone trespass in my house as recently as August. I've been doxxed on social media about where I live and I've had to have security everywhere I go.”
The politician also presented a printed version of another tweet from Caraballo, which she posted in November. As reported by The New York Post, this tweet said, “It’s so clear that Justice Alito is corrupt and SCOTUS as an institution is compromised. This is not a legitimate court issuing decisions. It’s an organ of the far right that solely follows outcome determinative logic rather than any reasoned jurisprudence.”
Mace confronted Caraballo, asking if she thinks her tweets “were a threat to democracy,” to which she replied that her posts have not been represented rightly. But the 45-year-old leader hit back at her by mentioning a case where a suspect was arrested for allegedly planning to murder Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. She concluded, “It's clear to me that we have to call out the threats to our democracy emanating from where they come, whether it's the right or the left.”
Later, Mace shared on Twitter, “If you’re gonna be a hypocrite who advocates for violence online, you probably shouldn’t do it testifying in my committee…” A user praised her by tweeting, “That was fantastic.” Another wrote, “Bravos for pointing out the hypocrisy 👏🏻👏🏻.” “Thank you. We need more of this from our Representatives, on both side of the aisle,” someone else declared.

Former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley said, “The left hates it when they’re confronted with their own words! Good for @nancymace calling out this hypocrisy.” Former Daily Signal producer Douglas Blair stated, “These liberal activists are such hypocrites. They complain about ‘violent rhetoric’ coming from the right while posting the most vitriolic stuff imaginable.”
