‘Friends’ star Matthew Perry got engaged to his girlfriend Molly Hurwitz. "I decided to get engaged," he said. "Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time."
Who is Molly Hurwitz?
According to People magazine, 51-year-old Perry and 29-year-old Hurwitz began dating in 2018. Hurwitz is a talent manager and literary manager. The couple kept their romance under the radar for a long time.
On May 1 this year, however, the couple briefly called it quits. A source close to the couple then revealed, "It happened very recently. It was very amicable, but they have both decided to go their separate ways.”
The news came as a shock to many people because just in February, days after Matthew Perry had finally joined Instagram, Hurwitz shared a Valentine’s Day message for him. “Second year being my valentine, but his first as an Instagram influencer,” Hurwitz reportedly wrote on her Instagram account, which is locked. “HVD to my favorite.” She also posted a picture of Perry, asleep on a couch while holding a smiley-face balloon.
Last year, the couple also spent the holidays together. "According to my parents' custody agreement, my mother was not allowed to have a Christmas tree..." she reportedly captioned a photo of herself and Perry on Instagram. "Fortunately, there's no such agreement for a daughter's boyfriend, so Hurwitz gets a treeeeeeee!!!"
Earlier, it was reported that according to insiders who know the couple, “His inner circle have wanted to see him settle down for a long time, especially Courteney Cox, and they hope him and Molly go the distance. Molly prefers nights in his private cinema watching films and eating home-cooked meals than going out.”
Hurwitz as per inside sources has been a "great support" to Perry as he continued his life after years of drug and alcohol abuse. “From an outsider's perspective, it would seem like I had it all,” Perry said in a 2016 interview. “It was actually a very lonely time for me because I was suffering from alcoholism… I don't remember three years of [‘Friends’]. I was a little out of it at the time -- somewhere between seasons three and six.”
Aside from that, after a jet ski accident in 1997, he was prescribed Vicodin. “It wasn’t my intention to have a problem with it,” he said in a 2002 interview. “But from the start, I liked how it made me feel and I wanted to get more.”
According to an unnamed insider, the two “mix in the same circles and she’s originally from New York where they have spent time together. She has a very quirky sense of humor and they hit it off immediately."
"Molly is not interested in fame and she rarely parties, she’s been great for Matthew," the source added. "They have kept the relationship a secret but things are getting more serious. They spent Christmas Day together with friends at his penthouse, exchanging gifts and watching ‘Elf’ on his large cinema screen."
Years ago, Perry dated Yasmine Bleeth for a short time. After their breakup, he was linked to major stars such as Julia Roberts, Heather Graham, and even Meg Ryan. In 2006, Perry started dating Lizzy Caplan. The two dated for six years before breaking up in 2012.
