Who did Mel Gibson kill?
It was on Monday, December 12, 2022, that police were called after several people reported a man, later identified as Gibson, had knocked out another man, (Hadlock) on Charleston Boulevard near Decatur Boulevard.
Hadlock, as per doctors, had received a skull fracture and injuries that led to bleeding in his brain. However, Hadlock refused that he was punched and instead told police he “was drunk and fell,” documents said. With this admission, police didn't follow the case on the event until Hadlock died in the hospital on Monday, January 2, the report stated.
Investigation reveals Hadlock was punched by Gibson
Homicide investigators then examined the surveillance video from a nearby business, which they claimed, showed Gibson punching Hadlock in the face. They claimed Hadlock then fell backward, hitting his head on the ground, noted the outlet.
Police later learned Gibson, who was experiencing homelessness and receiving services from a community organization, had taken a bus to the area prior to the altercation. As per a witness account, Gibson was overheard speaking of the man that “the guy was talking to him too much” and that he likes “to fight.”
After reviewing the surveillance footage and witness statements, the Clark County coroner's office determined that Hadlock died as a result of blunt head trauma. Police listed homicide as the cause of Hadlock's death.
Second record check shows Gibson is wanted for murder
As he was witnessed pants down, officers stopped Gibson from attempting to urinate in public and engaging in a lewd act. There were no outstanding warrants for his arrest, according to a radio records search. As a result, the police let Gibson go. However, a second record check revealed Gibson was wanted for second-degree murder.
On Paradise Road, east of the Las Vegas Strip, officers discovered Gibson about 20 minutes later. Gibson refused to be brought to the court during his arrest warrant return hearing on Tuesday. Judge Rebecca Saxe had set Gibson’s bail at $50,000, records showed. Gibson was due in court on Thursday, February 2, for his initial appearance, the report mentioned.
