Who is Kaylee Bryant dating? 'Legacies' star admits Josie's 'sexual fluidity' attracted her to the role
After an extended break and the premature end to the second season due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, 'Legacies' is finally returning to The CW with the third season.
The spin-off of a spin-off has characters that are "legacies" of 'The Vampire Diaries' and 'The Originals', who are the next generations of the characters featured on the two shows. The main descendants of those characters that 'Legacies' focuses on are Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) - the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley Marshall (Phoebe Tonkin) and the twins, Josie Saltzman (Kaylee Bryant) and Lizzie Saltzman (Jenny Boyd), who are the daughters of longtime Mystic Falls resident, Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis) and Gemini coven witch Josette "Jo" Laughlin (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe).
The second season saw a rise in prominence for Josie, played by Bryant, who effortlessly brought out Josie's dark side and effectively played two different characters in the previous season. By the end of the season, Josie's dark side was dealt with, but it led to Hope being in danger.
One of the biggest things that fans talk about is Josie's sexuality and her friendship/relationship with Hope. Fans have been shipping the two characters from Season 1 when we learned that Josie liked Hope. In the previous season, it was revealed that Hope had a crush on Josie as well, so perhaps it may just be a matter of time before "Hosie" becomes the OTP of 'Legacies'. Is there a chance of that happening? We might not know that yet, but the actress playing her has a lot going for herself. Take a look.
Who is Kaylee Bryant dating?
Josie's sexual fluidity may lead viewers to wonder about Bryant's dating life as well. The 23-year-old actress has kept mum about her private life and sexuality, so there is no publicly available information about her personal life. However, Bryant is vocal about her support for LGBTQ rights on social media.
Bryant also said in an interview with Grumpy Magazine that what attracted her to the role of Josie Saltzman was her "sexual fluidity." She said, " It was very appealing to me to have that representation for young men and women. So much work had to be done into her self-process, and so little of it was said. I was ecstatic to take on that challenge."
She continued, "Josie started off this show as a 15-year-old girl who just didn’t know who she was or how to stand up for herself, or when to stand up for herself. In every episode, something very impactful happens, so there is always something going on through Josie’s brain and as an actor, I want to validate every single thought that she has"
Kaylee Bryant started her career young
Bryant began her career as a model when she was seven, modeling for clothing brands like Ralph Lauren walking runways and doing print ads. She bagged her first acting role when she was eight and went on to appear on shows like 'American Horror Story', 'Santa Clarita Diet', 'The Real O'Neals', and 'Kickin' It'. Because of her early start in the entertainment industry, she was partly homeschooled.
Kaylee Bryant is part Japanese
Bryant surprised many viewers when she spoke fluent Japanese in an episode of 'Legacies' in the second season. The episode featured a samurai that had risen from Malivore. Bryant's character, Josie, acted as an interpreter between the samurai and the other characters.
Bryant revealed that she was part Japanese through her grandfather who was from Okinawa and so had grown up speaking Japanese, saying, "The reality is that I have been speaking Japanese for quite a while and my grandpa is Okinawan so I've heard Japanese my entire life." Her birth name, which is Kaylee Marie Kaneshiro Bryant, reflects this.
'Legacies' Season 3 premieres on The CW on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 9/8c.
