Who is James Baker? Elon Musk FIRES Twitter lawyer, claims he tried to 'suppress' Hunter Biden expose
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Elon Musk has fired Twitter's general counsel James A Baker over his involvement in suppressing the release of internal documents regarding Twitter's censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal ahead of the 2020 presidential elections. Musk collaborated with journalist and author Matt Taibbi to produce Twitter files, which exposed how the Blue Bird was involved in keeping the scandal low-key and was influenced by political entities.
The 45-year-old Twitter CEO tweeted on Tuesday, December 6, "In light of concerns about Baker’s possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue, he was exited from Twitter today." Musk added in a separate tweet saying, "Yes. His explanation was …unconvincing," explaining that he questioned Baker before firing him. Matt Taibbi once again took to his Twitter and explained why Baker was let go, claiming that he was responsible for "Vetting the first batch of “Twitter Files”." He wrote, "We can now tell you part of the reason why. On Tuesday, Twitter Deputy General Counsel (and former FBI General Counsel) Jim Baker was fired. Among the reasons? Vetting the first batch of “Twitter Files” – without knowledge of new management."

Who is James A Baker?
Baker is a former FBI general counsel under Director James Comey. He was heavily involved in the bureau’s investigation into false claims of complicity between Russia and Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. During his time with the bureau, Baker worked with FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page who were strictly anti-Trump. When he exited, he was placed under a criminal investigation for reportedly leaking information to reporters. Recently, he was in the news for being a star witness for special counsel John Durham in his case against former Hillary Clinton lawyer Michael Sussmann. The latter was found not guilty in May of lying to the FBI.
Twitter tapped Baker to lead their legal team in 2020. At the time, the company was under fire for creating controversy after labeling two Trump tweets as promoting misinformation for claiming that mail-in ballots will lead to a "rigged election". The Twitter Files also highlight an exchange between Baker and former Twitter Vice President of Global Communications Brandon Borrman about the decision to censor New York Post’s report, in which Baker is pro-suppressing the story.
