Karine Jean-Pierre slammed for calling Elon Musk’s Twitter files on Hunter Biden a ‘distraction’
WASHINGTON, DC: White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Monday, December 5, dismissed Elon Musk’s release of Twitter files via author Matt Taibbi as a “distraction.” She said, “it was not healthy” for Twitter owner to publish internal files revealing the company’s censorship of New York Post's 2020 reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop.
Talking about it, Pierre said, “We see this as an interesting, or a coincidence, if I may, that he would so haphazardly — Twitter would so haphazardly push this distraction that is full of old news, if you think about it. And at the same time, Twitter is facing very real and very serious questions about the rising volume of anger, hate and anti-Semitism on their platform and how they’re letting it happen," quotes NY Post. She added, "And, you know, the president said last week, more leaders need to speak out and reject this. And it's very alarming and very dangerous."

Pierre went on to say, "What is happening — it’s frankly, it’s not healthy. It won’t do anything to help a single American improve their lives. And so look, we see this as an interesting, you know, coincidence, and you know, it’s a distraction."
As previously reported, the revelations, tagged the ‘Twitter Files,’ was billed as a bombshell. Musk tweeted, “This will be awesome,” making an announcement with a popcorn emoji. Taibbi later tweeted the in-depth details in a series of threads detailing how the company handled the reporting about Hunter.
Taibbi wrote, "On October 14, 2020, the New York Post published BIDEN SECRET EMAILS, an expose based on the contents of Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop:Twitter Blocked the Hunter Biden Laptop Story." He said, "Twitter took extraordinary steps to suppress the story, removing links and posting warnings that it may be 'unsafe.' They even blocked its transmission via direct message, a tool hitherto reserved for extreme cases, e.g. child pornography."

The Internet wasn't too thrilled by the way the White House tried deflecting the blame and brushing the issue under the carpet. One social media user wrote: "Of course! Deny, deflect, down play anything that is true." One person even compared it to the time Bill Clinton scandal made knews, tweeting: "A yes, the old Clinton tactic." Another user, slammed the Biden admin as dishonest saying: "This White House is so dishonest. They are now calling the Elon Musk disclosure of the Hunter Biden suppression story a distraction." One said, "Old news" sounds like an admission they were fully aware of the collusion."
