LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The King of Pop is back! The legendary Michael Jackson's upcoming self-titled biopic will be portrayed by his nephew Jaafar Jackson. 'Michael' is expected to depict the complicated legacy of the man who came to be known as the King of Pop. According to the studio, the biopic will explore all aspects of the late icon's life, "including his most iconic performances that led him to become the greatest entertainer of all time."
Lionsgate’s upcoming biopic 'Michael' will be directed by Antoine Fuqua. Jaafar Jackson, 26, even penned a heartfelt note on his Instagram feed, “I’m humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life. To all the fans over the world, I’ll see you soon.”

Jaafar Jackson is the son of Jermaine Jackson and Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza. The couple tied the knot in 1995 and welcomed their son Jaafar Jackson in July 1996. Unfortunately, seven years later, Jermaine Jackson and Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza's marriage ended and the pair got divorced. He is famously known for being a member of the Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson's nephew alongside his brother Michael.

Jaafar Jackson is a rising singer, songwriter, and dancer since age 12. In 2019, he released his first single, 'Got Me Singing', along with a music video that showcased his talents. Aside from his own hustle, Jaafar has also starred in a number of his family-oriented projects over the years, including 2015's 'The Jacksons: Next Generation' and Michael Jackson's brother Tito Jackson's 2021 music video 'Love One Another'. However, 'Michael' marks Jaafar Jackson's acting debut.

Jaafar Jackson has the approval of the King of Pop's mother Katherine Jackson herself. “Jaafar embodies my son. It’s so wonderful to see him carry on the Jackson legacy of entertainers and performers,” said the late singer’s mother Katherine Jackson. Even the director claims Jaafar Jackson has a natural ability to emulate Michael.
"It's incredibly exciting to watch Jaafar bring Michael to life," director Antoine Fuqua told Variety. "There was such a spiritual connection when I first met Jaafar, who has a natural ability to emulate Michael and such a great chemistry with the camera."
