Who is Grace Pak? 'Is It Cake?' Season 3 chef reunites with high school friend and Netflix judge Danielle Pinnock
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: When Grace "Grey" Pak joined 'Is It Cake?' Season 3, she was eager to show the world what she could accomplish with cakes.
However, it was in episode 5, that she had her legendary moment while sitting in the gallery when she reunited with her high school friend, Danielle Pinnock, who had arrived at the Netflix show's set to judge her co-stars.
While the show's host and 'Saturday Night Live' veteran, Mikey Day, was introducing Danielle, Grace couldn't help but shout out to her old buddy. Danielle, who had to halt for a while, quickly recognized her old acquaintance waving from the gallery.
After referring to Grace as "her girl," Danielle said that her mother inquired about the Netflix chef only two weeks before the show's taping. "I just love you so much," the 'Ghosts' star remarked.
Even though Danielle didn't get to taste one of Grace's creations, the two high school buddies were ecstatic to reunite after years on the set of the Netflix show.
While it is known Danielle attended Saddle River Day School, fans can guess Grace was an enrollee there too.
How much did Grace Pak win in 'Is It Cake?' Season 3?
It wasn't until the second episode of 'Is It Cake?' Season 3 that viewers saw Grace attempt to mislead the judges with her work. Sadly, the visiting judges (Oscar Nuñez, Jillian Bell, and Kamie Crawford) recognized her dessert among the crowd.
Despite being on the verge of elimination, the judges chose not to rate her as the episode's losing baker based on the taste of her cake.
Grace eventually appeared in episode 4 of the competition, where the bakers had to work in two-person teams. Henderson Gonzalez was her companion in the episode.
Both of them were able to create desserts that looked very similar to lunch items, fooling the judges. With a $5,000 guaranteed reward in each of their wallets, Grace and Henderson moved on to participate in the Cake or Cash round, doubling their gains.
Grace began episode 6 with a bang, determined to keep her great performance going. She won the Find That Cake round. This enabled her to select what she wanted to bake in the next round. While Grace was able to trick the judges, the other two bakers, Julie McAllister and Jujhar Mann, were also successful.
It was now up to the judges to decide who would win based on the taste of their cakes, and they chose Grace. She was next up for the Cake or Cash round, where she won $10,000.
Grace was one of the semi-finalists in season 3, competing against five outstanding bakers. Grace gave it her all in hopes of fooling the judges.
Sadly, she did not succeed this time around. Grace and Julie were eliminated from the competition since only three of the bakers succeeded in this quest.
However, she left with $20,000 in her pocket.
