Who is Caitlin Clark? Iowa Hawkeyes player shoots STUNNING 3-pointers finishing with 45 points alone
IOWA CITY, IOWA: The breathtaking match between Iowa Hawkeyes and North Carolina State on December 1, 2022, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena was a spectacular view for the fans of both teams. One particular aspect of the match was Caitlin Clark who was in absolute beast mode and was scoring ridiculous three-pointers. With this fixture, she scored her fifth career 40-point scoring game for Iowa, even though her team lost.
The 22-year-old basketball player scored 45 points alone and the Hawkeyes lost to NC State 94-81 loss at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Even after an impressive solo score, she was critical of her team's defense and told ESPN, "I think whenever I score 40 points, we lose. So it's not something I want to do." The point guard finished with 45 points which is the most scored this season by a Division I women's player. Clark went on to criticize the defense even further and quipped, "Only 10 [team] assists tonight, and that's not Iowa basketball. We could have run our offense better. We could have gotten Monika [Czinano] the ball better. Then we scored, but we couldn't get stops. We didn't play defense. I think it's pretty simple. We could have scored more than 90 points, and we still would have lost the game. It comes down to defense, and we know that."

Who is Caitlin Clark?
Born in Des Moines, Iowa, she had impressive statistics even as a freshman during her four years of varsity basketball for Dowling Catholic High School. During that time, she averaged 15.3 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. This earned her Class 5A All-State second-team accolades. In her sophomore season, averaged 27.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, four assists, and 2.3 steals. Keeping these figures in mind, she was ranked second in the state in scoring. Even before starting high school, she was recruited by NCAA Division I basketball programs. To solidify her as an up-and-coming player, ESPN considered her a five-star recruit and the fourth-best player in her class.
Her performance against NC state on Thursday, December 1, was only one point short shy of her career-high record and three points shy of the Iowa women's school record of 48 by Megan Gustafson. Even though Clark was 16 of 28 from the field, made five 3-pointers, had six rebounds, and four assists, the overall performance of the team was underwhelming. NC State coach Wes Moore admired Clark's performance and told ESPN, "I admire her a lot. I think she's really turned into an all-around player," Moore said. "She'll lead the world in assists, also. She doesn't mind giving it up. She's got great vision."
