Boostio: EG 'Valorant' star grateful to xQc as he achieves stardom accidentally
Evil Geniuses, a relatively new team in the world of 'Valorant', has made an impressive show in the VCT Americas playoffs. Despite almost missing the playoffs altogether, they managed to qualify for 'VCT Masters Tokyo' and the 'Valorant' world championship by defeating Cloud9 with a score of 2-0.
Kelden ‘Boostio’ Pupello and Max ‘Demon1’ Mazanov emerged as key players during this pivotal moment for the team. However, what's more, interesting is how Boostio got his start in the competitive gaming scene. It was revealed by an Esports Insider that Boostio owes his start to Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel.

Kelden "Boostio" Pupello is an American player with a passion for leading the charge in the world of competitive esports. Born on November 14, 2000, this young superstar is currently making waves as the in-game leader for powerhouse team Evil Geniuses. Though he made his start as an Overwatch player, most fans will recognize Pupello for his standout performances with Skyfoxes.
Why is Evil Geniuses 'Valorant' star grateful to xQc?
Demon1 is a relative newcomer to competitive 'Valorant' gaming and joined Evil Geniuses in 2023. On the other hand, Boostio has been competing at the highest levels of the game since 2020. To make a name for himself as a professional gamer, Boostio participated in an early tournament during the game's beta period - the ESPN Esports Invitational.
Interestingly, a key aspect of Boostio's rise to prominence as a professional 'Valorant' player came from an unexpected source. According to one of the event’s architects, Boostio was only playing in the tournament because xQc, a former Overwatch pro and well-known content creator, backed out. Boostio was given a chance to shine and make a name for himself in the competitive gaming scene, which led the way for him to eventually join a team like Evil Geniuses.
